The picturesque Dharamsala is all set to host its first match of the season! Hello everyone and a warm welcome to Game 64 of the Indian Premier League. The defending champions are the only side to have made it to the playoffs and they have sealed the top spot. Just seven round robin matches remain and seven teams are vying for the other three spots. One of them - Punjab Kings - will be in action tonight. On Sunday, they registered an incredible come-from-behind win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The confidence should be high and they'll be facing off against the same opponents. A win tonight will see them climb up to

The Kings will be eyeing consistency. After kick-starting the season with back-to-back wins, they have failed to string two wins on the bounce. Since they don't have a great NRR, Dhawan and Co. can't afford any more slip ups. Prabhsimran Singh, the 22-year-old opener, smashed a terrific century just a few days ago and Harpreet Brar proved that match-ups shouldn't be taken too seriously as he picked a four-fer which included the scalps of two left-handed batters. The team management would hope for a better performance from their overseas players. The Capitals lost five on the bounce, won four of their next five but suffered two successive losses to become the first team to get knocked out of the playoff race.

Match 64, IPL 2023. We are nearing the end of the league stages, and we don't yet know more than one playoff team. Tonight we have one of the contenders, Punjab Kings, going up against the already eliminated Delhi Capitals. The equation for PBKS is simple. In the words of S Rajesh, here it goes:

Played 12, Points 12, NRR -0.268

Remaining: DC (h), RR (h)

Given their poor NRR, it is highly unlikely that Kings will take the fourth spot with 14 points. They will need to win their last two and finish on 16, and then probably hope that other results help them out, as RCB are on as many points with a significantly better run rate.

To start with, they need a big win against bottom-placed Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. That is a home game for Kings, but in Dharamsala, not Mohali.

Pitch Report | Simon Doull and Matthew Hayden:"We are 1457 metres above sea level, that makes a difference when it comes to dimensions and boundary hitting. Dimensions - 65 metres square on both sides, 76 metres downtown. This is an absolute beauty. It hasn't had a lot of wear and tear. When you look at the surface, really hard, not a lot of movement in these cracks whatsoever. A good smattering of grass which means the quicks are gonna be in play throughout the course of 20 overs. Will it be a good batting track? You bet! The par score should be around 180. The outfield looks absolutely magnificent - it's been relaid, looks pristine and we're set for a cracking night here in Dharamshala
