It takes guts and courage to reintroduce yourself in a new industry, break the ceiling and still keep going despite obstacles. She’s paved the way for more Indian actors to dream beyond the impossible. Its easy to criticise but I can only imagine the amount of hard work and will power it has taken her to materialise any of this.

For starters, no one is calling her Aish on the red carpet 👀 she did it on her own, ya’ll can call her cringe but how many Bolly actors/actresses would you put on an American talk show and know they will speak with ease? Ranveer is doing it for PL and NBA and just look at the hate he got for that ONE “cringe rap song”. And maybe this is a stretch, but this opens doors for other brown influencers too, whether that’s a Masoom Minawala or a Dua Khosla. Cos now people see, even brown sells.

I think that I lauded her hard work, her courage, her determination...about the rest, I don't know if she paved a way for others or how much she is accepted in the HW filmindustry...

Probably, she has find her place - and a Netflix Web series of the (overexpensive) Russo brothers with her as a lead can have another positive outcome for her...

I'm not positive towards her personality (as far as I know it) but that doesn't affect my positive view on her trying to find a new place for her acting work.

What shifting goal posts? If anything she’s shifting her own goal posts based on whatever does and dosent workout as her new career

Like what am I supposed to laud her for? Courage and starting from scratch? It’s a choice she made for herself …unless ur a fan of her personally, why should consumers laud that? Lol…they will laud when the products they consume are worthy of the word

Looking all the tags she gave herself as singer actor producer shampoo product owner, model blah blah …which of these have actually brought her recognition for her skill? Since her move ?

is her acting lauded? Is her singing lauded? Is her philanthropic contribution lauded and created a genuine interest amongst the public for the cause? Is her ceo business management skills lauded? Is anomaly lauded for offering quality at an affordable price (like the ordinary, inkey list, minimalist etc)

Having your face everywhere and showing up everywhere with “teams” to manage ur various investments is something even Kim k or rakhi sawant does…famous for being famous ain’t skill …

Eh PC focusses so hard on perfecting her accent that it makes her not act so well. Not only that, people in America are more exposed to Latin, Korean, Chinese cultures and you will actually see those stars making a splash.

The exposure to brown actors has been largely due to actors like Mindy Kaling ( also someone who wrote some of the best episodes on the Office) and now her show Never Have I Ever is a huge hit for Netflix. Notice though how on the show the main love triangle is not with a brown man lol.

Aziz ansari or Hasan Minhaj also played their parts. Superwoman or Lilly Singh also had decent exposure until she tanked in late night and now ironically is reverting to hobnobbing with brown celebs to gain some level of her fame back.

Even in Bridgeton, the main love story is between a white man and a brown ( not a fair skinned) woman. Again she and the other lead had perfect British accents.

Essentially the brown celebs actually making splashes are entirely born and brought up there, their accents and so on and so forth are something the people there can identify with. Ms Marvel that tried to be balanced while lauded by brown audience goers was actually panned and had low ratings by American audiences.

PC is just someone floating there, she was tanking in BW though she does do well in certain roles. This series like Quantico and Baywatch is a flop - to be successful you need to generate buzz from the opportunities provided Now there she is no doubt getting opportunities but the audience simply seems to not be as invested in brown culture beyond yoga and ayurveda unfortunately due to pure ignorance. Harsh facts. We need her success and hype to come from audiences there locally to consider her successful. My essay ends here 🤣

PS: yes naatu naatu did win Oscars but that’s a one off.

I think, one should be fair and at least acknowledge her perseverance...it isn't like she openes her mouth and roast pigeons fly into it...she works for that with whatever means she sees as opportune.

Still I maintain that I would have prefered to see her acting skills deployed in Indian movies...she really has (had) potential...and there had been no need to try to use (again) affair-rumours...this time was one too many times...

I guess, decency is not part of her personality (and there is a reason for that).

Yet, I don't wish her any bad...I just don't care for what she does.

Exactly, dear sev...and I won't watch Citadel - just because there are other movies/shows to watch I'm more interested in (and not because of quality but subject)...it also simply is a matter of time at hand...

Still I can respond to something written in this thread, right?

Sev, that's what Google gives me as translation:

Abdullah crazy in foreign marriage

That doesn't make any sense to me as a comment to what I wrote and what you quoted...
