I think this is exactly what they wanted to achieve. Abhira’s relationship had love, passion and sparks.
NavShu’s relationship has friendship, trust and understanding and a common interest and commitment to Abhir. It’s a pragmatic relationship and there is mutual respect, care and dare I say it, love - not the soul stirring, full of butterflies and sparks flying kind but the more mundane committed kind that grows on you from having lived together day in and day out for 6 years.
Now Destiny plays a hand - with NavShu, it removes Abhir from their equation - will their relationship sustain without Abhir? Are NavShu a couple without Abhir?
And Abhira - will their relationship resurge now that they have to deal with Abhir as two caring, biological but divorced parents?

this thought just occurred to me are they trying to show that though love is there deep down both the leads in their minds have completely moved on, one because she has married someone so is showing loyalty and the other his promise to give his new partner all the honesty and respect a wife deserves.
Are they doing this to show the audience that the leads are honest humans who genuinely tried to move on but destiny brought them back together. So if and when they get back together they are not seen as cheaters or unfaithful to their current partners/ and promises.
PS not talking about Shoddy execution but just the thought process
