Lalgudi! Such a gracious, dignified and genius musician! Can’t forget the live concert I attended of his and then years later his kids - Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi. Was sitting in the front row and went and chatted with them after! Ahh what joy! I still love Lalgudi’s entire Thillana album. I can listen to it on loop anytime of day and it instantly improves my mood. Thanks for sharing this one, Madhu.

Btw I thought this was interesting and thought to share. A member recently conducted a poll on BWD forum on the best singers in India, I believe they had many rounds with popular, classic, contemporary and then pitted the winners against each other in the final round. This was the result.

I've never had an actor/actress in my DP in all these years. This is the first time.

These threads are good! Lata-Rafi are indeed evergreen. Last week I went for a field trip to Patan and on our way back we played antakshari and you won't believe all the kids (19-20yos) were singing old songs such flawlessly! Lata, Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh!! I was so surprised and happy to hear it! I told them you have good taste! 😆

That's great to know! Rafi & Lata and the rest deserve all the love. I do concede that Hindi Film music was probably at its best when they were at their peak but even so sustaining all these years is not an easy thing to do, and especially holding the attention of youngsters these days is even more difficult cos I feel the present generation is quickly dismissive and critical of anything and everything (usually - trying not to stereotype here! 😳)

When it comes to Antakshari i can never recall any songs newer than the 90s! 😆 Old songs FTW!
