More than the song and lyrics(the original lyrics are really good and ooze "Teluguness") I think the award was really for the energetic dance performance and how beautifully it was mounted in the film.Since they don't have such categories they had to give it to the composers.

Keeravani is a good composer but none of his works are really outstanding.Even in this movie Komaram Bheemudo song was very emotionally moving and was definitely a better work than Naatu naatu.

I think this song was the only with an elaborate set and dance performance accompanied the singers.

I think the song is quite catchy. And may be it’s more about how beautifully it was performed, even the overall setting is quite good. The dance was top notch!

I don't know whether it's over rated or under rated or correctly rated but seeing the Oscars winner for best 'original song' in my news paper sure is a feeling which can't be described in words. Peace out.✌️

for westerners the songs have to fit into the movie and move the story forward, they appreciate that. not just something randomly popping up.

for example: a duet after a romantic scene is normal for us, for them it is boring and redundant unless it is moving the story

all songs in this movie did exactly that, along with verything else like choreo, music, dance, singing, lyrics elevating it

frankly imo all the all other nominees were snooze inducing except rihanna's had a sentimental value, this had a joie de vivre which they were missing

as so keeravani, he is a good director, but most importantly he scores very aptly for the movie subject, a baahubali was supremely elevated because he combined western orchestra with indian classical, he deserved it for bb and got it for rrr.

he has scored for a jism as well a rajasthani paheli equally well. he deserves it for his work

as for all those ppl saying that song deserved it, this song deserved it, frankly none of the movies those songs belonged to created any buzz. the movie is the foundation, if it doesnt work, nobody will notice the score

anyway nobody has stopped them, pls go and do the work rrr team did and win it.

As a melody yes very overrated..because if this is about a tune or a melodious song it doesn’t cut it at all..but in terms of picturization it was gorgeous..I would have liked something like Pranavalaya making the cut honestly..but Natu Natu does have X factor

it may be overrated for us Indians as we have lot better songs..but this song had a global appeal owing to the smashing success of the movie and how well integrated it was with the storyline.....it connected with the audience all over the world...so such influence plays an important role..else if we only go by quality of the song there will be gazillion contenders from all over the world..

I mean, when you look at the full spectrum of Indian cinema and music - Naatu Naatu is an ordinary song. Indian cinema has a long history of bangers with elaborate dance numbers. And everyone has their personal subjective favorite that speaks to them more than others.

But it's pretty cool that Naatu Naatu won; it is still an entertaining number and a challenging dance. I'm happy for the RRR team, for the Telugu film industry, and desi cinema lovers. I hope it inspires everyone to be audacious with their musicals.
