I went through all the episodes that I missed... And out of everything that is happening... And a lot is happening together... The one thing that is bothering me the most is "Vidhi's inability to work".

And i realised, it's bothering me more because this is the only point where Dev's character do not sit well with me... It didn't sit well when Dev did not take a stand on the same issue with Priya... However I thought may be Priyas own behaviour towards the family may be a reason for it...

But now... It's irking me... More so becaus it was Dev who convinced HP to allow Vidhi to work and had done so over and over again... It was he who has always emphasized on education and being self sufficient... And now what is he doing??... By supporting this so called stupid parampara he is going back on his own words...

Dev keeps on talking about MBA... But my question is then what??... Priya also has an MBA degree and she is not allowed to step out... So, how a degree is going to help vidhi??? How is MBA going to help vidhi help her family??...

In today's times where we are talking about equal opportunities and equal respect... These kind of povs and attitudes are unacceptable...

And this is the only point where Dev disappoints me...

Another thought if we see all the characters closely except Vidhi and Dev.... And to some extent Bimla... Everyone is selfish and self centred...

No one keeps others ahead of them....

Take Satya... For her.. her word given to a long dead husband is more important that the happiness of living people around her... She has never shown to behave well with Priya... And that is what she gets back from priya... Also, she is more worried about keeping her relationship with her hili sister good and never takes a stand when she is sprouting nonsense...

Priya never had a good thing to say about her in-laws... Nor has she ever behaved well with any of the family members... She constantly held grudge for the work thing and snubbed Abhi because she thought he was beneath her... Relationships go both ways... Today she called Abhi "not manly enough" and that is why she stepped out of the marriage... However, she has always behaved atrociously with him... It goes both ways... It's never expected from priya to keep anyone before her...

Abhi, he is weak... He, from the beginning, was shown as someone who didn't know what to do... Lacked confidence... He would not have surmounted to doing much if not for vidhi... He hardly ever took stand or sacrificed anything for the family... He can whine and complain but given responsibilities fail utterly... As we can see him do now...

Hariya too has always been about what he thought or felt or believed.... He got an attack when he came to know about Dev and Vidhi... But not a tremor when Vidhi was apparantly dying... because dying didn't tarnish the ever present "izzat"... His ideologies have always been more important than every living being around him...

In all of these if we really go back to the very first episodes and watch... Vidhi and Dev have always put everyone before them... Be it in office or at home...

I really hope the rest of the family members realise that and do something about it...

Sorry for two long posts....😆

I am very conflicted about this track, but I think it is a great topic to focus on.

While I understand Vidhi’s helplessness when it comes to her family, I don’t think her starting to work is going to solve anything. As much as Satyavati’s ridiculous stand doesn’t make sense, neither does her dads ego/principles/pride. He is willing to go take a loan from some Random dude instead of sharing his issues with his own daughter or taking help from someone who has always always been there for him and his family. That is ridiculous.
This is where I feel education and empowerment will come into the picture. Yes what is she going to do with an MBA when she can’t work - working again is like a temporary fix. Education will provide her with the tools she needs to make what she has to of her life. Obtaining this degree will not just be about the knowledge that comes from books - but so much more. Mainly for her, it is a stepping stone for her to realize that she cannot live life based on what people permit her to do.

While Dev’s inability to support her is disappointing - it is not surprising - he clearly stated his position last week. This doesn’t make sense, but it is what his mom wants and he cannot go against that. It doesn’t go against his character either - he has always been flawed when it comes to his family/mom. There will be a day where he will get over his inhibitions and will do the right thing, but today is not that day, and it won’t happen by guilt tripping him.
He has offered to do whatever he can within his power, without offending his in-laws to help them. Vidhi could have convinced her parents to take his help, but that’s not something she is willing to do. Why - because her father though poor is rich with morals and that makes him always right. This is again where empowerment will come into the picture - of course she doesn’t have to get a degree to be empowered, but she can draw from her life, the life of others around her and learn from that.
Equality comes from practice and not from speeches and that is something both of them should work toward. Until Vidhi gets what she wants - and she will, she should work toward seeing money and resources as theirs and not just Dev’s. And this is also something that comes with time and life experiences.

I am also extremely biased - I have always disliked the Sharma’s as parents - they are the perfect example of how not to raise a child. Even now, when their daughter is trying to help them, all they care about is sending her back 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry for the word vomit - and I feel the need to add this disclaimer - I am very much pro women working and having financial independence. But this fictional scenario is very much in the greys and not black or white.

I agree with your points...

I agree education gives a lot more than just ability to earn... It gives you confidence and opens you up for possibilities...

I also agree Vidhi working is a quick fix...

However, from the very beginning Dev's inability to take a stand against Satya on this working point has irked me because on one hand he convinced HP to allow Vidhi to work but couldn't do the same with his mom... It rings as hypocrisy to me...

However, this is the only major weakness Dev has...

As far as HP and Bimla is concerned... Less said about their parenting is more... I always hated HP as a father... He is everything a father should not be... His behaviour can make book on "What not to do as a father 101"...

Sharma's so called izzat and samman and all logic around it is really stupid...

But if Vidhi was allowed to work, it may not have helped the Sharma's but it definitely would have helped vidhi find herself and keep her dignity...

And you are right... She needs to let go of this thought of seeing Dev's money as separate... But I think it stems from the same insecurities from where she took the step of the prenup... These are the places where maturity will be needed and Vidhi needs to grow up...

Sorry again for such a long post...
