History will repeat itself. But the common factor is not Katha
My b-school research prof used to give us an example: one evng a man drinks whiskey with water and feels tipsy. The next evng he drinks rum with water and feels tipsy. The third evng he drinks vodka with water and feels tipsy. So he concludes it must be the water.
Like that, Katha seems to be concluding it must be something about her, she may be slipping into self-doubt. But the real common causal factor (like the alcohol in the 3 drinks) is the controlling, self-centred, ‘quick to blame others but oblivious to self’ nature of both PapaG & Nightie mama.
That's very very true. The elders both are at fault. They really don't know what is wrong they're doing. Teju might not be solely responsible for Viaan's hatred towards his papa, but she has always been blinded to that fact that as a son even Viaan has suffered the same loss. Losing the love of a father is no less than losing the love of a spouse. Viaan is scarred by the past and she seems to give no thought towards his issues with regards to his father. Whereas Viaan has always been considerate about his mother's feelings, by always appreciating her by calling her the most beautiful and all that.
Similarly Katha's F-I-L seemed to have his own issues in not letting Aditya marry Katha.
But apparently it's not always about the girl. It's about the parents and the Children's relationship, which needs some help and counseling.
