Australians started off well and started scoring runs on fast pace , but Ashwin's double blow has brought back this contest to balance.

Australia won a good toss and then the openers staved off a fierry opening spell from Siraj. David Warner copped blows all around, but just as he looked settled, Shami got one to straighten and found his outside edge. On the other hand, Khawaja looked very positrive, used his feet against Ashwin and then used the sweeps to good effect, on either side of the ground. With Labushangne looking forward at the other end, it looked like Australia's session, only for Ashwin to foil all plans with a double wicket burst and it can.

AUS 94/3 (25)

CRR: 3.76

This will be the turning point of today's play.

Tbh, Marnus is hyped a lot, and a lot of that is warranted but getting Steven out for duck— not only the best test batter by far but also the only batter in the Oz squad who knows how to play in Indian conditions— is the pivotal moment in the test.

Can't tell you how happy it makes me to see Ash shine.

He is shining with bat & ball recently, giving some strength to the batting whenever it is necessary.

Is this pitch better or worst than the first one?

AUS 125/4 (36.3)

CRR: 3.42

Day 1: 2nd Session

Sagar D Shah: The pitch seems to be much much better in comparison to Nagpur and the Aussie openers proved that too, hence no debate regarding pitch should come up in this test. It will all be about batting and bowling skills.

So far the pitch is not playing any dangerous games, both batters and bowlers are getting help from it.

Drinks are on the field now. Australia are playing some very positive cricket, and this has been a much more even contest. They lost Travis Head as he took a slash at one, but Khawaja and Handscomb are looking solid. The latter probably looks best suited for these conditions with his technique. India need a breakthrough soon enough or the game could be taken away from them...

Teja: Khawaja having a positive and confident attitude against Indian spinners has paced his innings a lot. A big boost for Australia batting and the team.

Jadeja to Khawaja, out Caught by Rahul!! That's a one-handed stunner from KL Rahul and Khawaja is down on his knees, in absolute disbelief. Could be the gamechanger for India. He's count himself extremely uncluky to have been dismissed, end of a superb hand though. Was tossed up just outside off and he shaped for the reverse sweep, nailed it towards point, but didn't count for the screamer from KL - He dived across full length to his right, had to go one-handed and then held on even as he fell onto the ground. That's the 250th Test wicket for RJ. Khawaja c Rahul b Jadeja 81(125) [4s-12 6s-1]

Jadeja to Khawaja, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Aus--168/5 after 46.2 overs
