Wheat wasn't a crop native to India and many millets are native to India. In many villages in Maharashtra, people still eat jwari bhakri for dinner, bajri bhakri in winter and nachni bhakri in summer.
HP and Uttarakhand eat other varieties of millets. South it's ragi (nachni). Gujarat eats jowar and bajri. And 'vari Cha bhaat' which is eaten during fast, is also a kind of millet.
