I used to think the same but I guess the writers wanted that only and they went ahead with that. Personally I am a fan of tragic stories but with Sreemoyee it didn’t fit well. I didn’t feel that Rohit’s death was forced but at the same time it was not necessary either. I am 50-50 on the ending. It was sad to see that in her second marriage also she had to face a tragedy. If I think philosophically then I guess Rohit’s role in her life was to free her from all the shackles which he did and then he left. Also in the end Sreemoyee choosing Rohit over everything and everyone was the testament of her love and a contrast to the time when she couldn’t choose him.

I haven't seen the original Bengali series Sreemoyee.

Even Aai kuthe kay karte, the marathi version by same PH is whole lot better. Arundhati has poise and dignity. She does not do Maa hoon ne jaap. She is respectful of the ex-MIL but she is not a doormat. Arundhati does not interfere in every small thing at the ex house. Also Arundhati Ashutosh are yet not married, she just now accepted Ashutosh’s marriage proposal.
