Okay why is no one talking about the condition scene when Murtasim meets Meerab in the room?
OOF, the intensity
OOF, the dialogues
When he lifts the veil so Meerab can see herself in the mirror, was such a powerful moment. In the last episode, we know that's a little freedom stolen from her because "uske sohar ka sabse pehla haq hai uss pe" and she feels bitter. But Murtasim knows her enough to know it's just a pretence, so he asks her who she put this effort for. "I put effort in to please myself". "Phir sabse pehle dekhne ka haq bhi tumhe hai," he lifts her veil so she can look but her eyes fixate on the image of them, together, and on him.
I think he's right and she will regret everything in the future. But, not because Murtasim's innocent but because she will lose herself and the essence of what made her Meerab. If her heart becomes too cold, she won't be able to meet her own gaze. In my eyes, the mirror-veil scene is a metaphor for their marriage. She's doing this marriage for herself, and at the end of the day, she'll have to answer to herself.
It was a showdown, but not really, because Meerab was the only one fighting. Murtasim feels something for her, and I think that started with compassion for his own plight was similar (a puppet under Ma Begum's strings), so he's letting her run wild.
He's gentle with her. Which is why the earlier slap scene is so stupid cause it doesn't fit with his characterization at all. He's soft on her; we've seen it so many times, like at her birthday party when he didn't squash her guy friend for disrespecting him at sight or how he observed her in the hospital.
Also when he said "ab ye ghoongat ka kya natak hai?" ROFL He knows her so well
