India won from 317 runs

When you score close to 400 runs in an ODI, the game is mostly done and dusted there itself. Unless the pitch is a complete road (which this wasn't) or maybe if England are the chasing side. The result was a foregone conclusion but what was shocking was the meek surrender from the Lankan batters. Even if the target was improbable, they could have all tried to put up a fight but that was not to be. Siraj's new-ball burst killed off whatever minimal hopes the visitors may have had and the procession just never stopped at all. Only three batters got to double digits and just one partnership faced 20-plus deliveries out there. Sums up the second innings, doesn't it? India only had to use three specialist bowlers while Iyer bowled one solitary over as well. Siraj deserved a fifer, but fell agonizingly close. The one dismissal that kind of resembles Sri Lanka's mood today has to be that of Karunaratne's. Imagine playing a forward defence back to the bowler and then getting run out for not having your foot back in the crease. It's beyond silly. A clinical performance from India though. The centuries from Kohli and Gill set the hosts up, and there was no looking back thereafter.

Mohammed Siraj: I wanted to try and get my first fifer. Tried very hard, but you get only as much as you deserve. The outswing was coming out nicely, but the wicket-taking over was the scrambled seam. I just try to generate some doubt in the batter’s mind with those outswing deliveries. Captain tried hard to get me that fifer, but what can we do.

Dasun Shanaka | Sri Lanka captain: It's disappointing. Not the game we would have wanted but it happens sometimes. Bowlers and batters both need to learn. How to pick wickets on these pitches and how to score runs. No idea about that (on the updates about Bandara and Vandersay). Playing positive cricket is the key. If the boys showed intent, bowling will be different. While playing international cricket, we need to play with intent. I would like to congratulate Indian team for playing this level of cricket.
