He's been sporting some form of injury or the other for quite a while now. Probably since around the time of the fracture.

The bruises were there for so long that I'm actually considering this an improvement. Finally something different to look at.

That is something I've considered. What if they don't actually show much wrong with Shiva at all. The only issue is it would be entirely out-of-character for him to leave his family but that has never stopped them before.
