A session owned by Bangladesh to end what's been a see-saw day of Test match cricket. For a large part of the day, things seemed to be going pretty much India's way, like it had during the first two days. At one stage, Bangladesh led by just 26 when they lost their sixth wicket. It seemed then that the game would be done and dusted by today. But the hosts refused to bow down without a fight. Nurul launched a counterattack that spurred Das too, and Taskin too joined in to swell the lead to 144. It's clearly not an intimidating target on most pitches but on this deteriorating surface that's spinning and having variable bounce, it was something for Bangladesh to work with. Shakib led from the front, removing his opposite number very early before Mehidy's triple strike got rid of Gill, Pujara and Kohli to wreck havoc. Amidst the ruins, Axar, who was promoted, has done his job but this game is on the knife edge. 100 runs | 6 wickets is the equation with time clearly not a factor anymore.

Mehidy Hasan: We were thinking positively. We thought it would be difficult to bat. We have a great chance. They have a good batting side. If we get two wickets tomorrow morning, we have a great chance. (On the ball to Kohli) It was a great ball. I tried to bowl in the rough. It was a good track and looked to create chances. I believe I can do better and we can win tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Indian badminton's crowning glory in 2022 was the Thomas Cup victory. Before they clinched the title in the final, the Indian team overcame the mighty challenge against Viktor Axelsen's Denmark in the semifinal. With Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy pulling off stellar wins, this was an obvious choice for ESPN's match of the year

Amey: "With Bazzball approach, the match would have ended by now." Smart of you to not have included who'd have won.

MK : "High time for both kohli and rahul to go into domestic cricket. India have many players who are waiting for their turn to crack into the team."

Mehidy Hasan Miraz: We just tried to be positive, the wicket was turning, so we had to bowl well against them, they have some really good batters. If we get two early wickets in the morning, we can go for the win. That was an excellent ball (against Kohli) I tried to bowl into the rough. Got some turn on that ball. If we get early wickets we have a chance. I believe I can do well tomorrow.

STAT: Ten innings since Kohli last scored a fifty in Tests, equals his worst such run in the format (ten innings in England in 2014 with a highest of 39)

4:55pm: Session ends with 81 for 7 in 33.2 overs, it belonged to Bangladesh. They added a few runs at the end and gave nothing away with the ball. They attacked the stumps, were there or thereabouts with their lengths and lines, reaped hefty rewards. Shakib started the session with a massive LBW shout, it ended with a loss of a review but he persisted, as did Taijul and Mehidy. They stacked up the pressure. Rahul was undone by Shakib with away spin. Pujara, in a rare occurrence, got out stumped. Mehidy got into the wickets and stayed there. Gill looked to come down to get to the pitch, didn't and was deceived. Kohli was undone by the ball pitching in the rough and coming in. Took the edge, Mominul's sharp catch sent him back, leaving Bangladesh with a great chance to level the series.
