The pitch is green and is offering seam and spin, there was swing early on too. Batters can work the ball to the leg side or flay at times, like Shakib did, over off. How it reacts as the ball ages will be interesting to see and could determine Bangladesh's first-innings score. All in all, it promises to provide us with an eventful Test.

11:32pm: Many chances created, one or two missed but Bangladesh's openers did well to hang in, and Shakib fought back with an attack to take the hosts to a respectable 82 for 2 at the end of the first session. The talk for India will chiefly be around Kuldeep's omission. Unadkat coming in, held his length well. The line was around off, in the channel more often than not. He found variable (often extra) bounce, it earned him Zakir's wicket. Ashwin found the spin but faced good counterattack from Shakib. The wicket should have come but Pant missed a stumping. Umesh Yadav too, could have struck early, but Siraj missed a chance running in from deep fine leg. For Bangladesh, Zakir was watchful, so was Shanto. Both batters did not mind getting beaten. They pushed through and started ticking along. They got dismissed quickly but Shakib came in, looked to charge with positive foot movement, go over occasionally, and get bowlers off their lengths. So far, he's managed to do that to some extent. But India will feel they have a sniff. Mominul, at the other end, has been solid. Great session, hopefully makes way to one just as good.
