It may not be my place to say this but I couldn't help myself so apologies in advance. I'm only speaking up (well technically typing) because it was starting to make me uncomfortable.
So here goes -
Everyone has the right to their opinions and no one can force them to change those but they tend to forget those very same rights belong to other people as well.
If one engages with people with the sole purpose of insulting them, mocking them, looking down upon them and/or making fun of them then it isn't reasonable to expect those people to care to have a healthy discussion with that person either.
Also, if a person is not open to having a respectful exchange with people whose views differ from their own then maybe it is best for them to only converse with like-minded individuals. Avoiding such unnecessary conflict might genuinely make them happier and anyway why to ruin your peace of mind over something inconsequential.
Lastly, words do have the power to affect people greatly and we never really knows what someone else might be going through. So I truly believe we can all afford to be a bit more kind and charitable in our words to one another as it is both the season for it and the world is always in the need for it.
End of my TED Talk and once again I do apologise if I inadvertently hurt anyone's sentiments. My only point was for us all to try and keep this a space where people aren't afraid to share their views in fear of being attacked for them.
Thank you for reading
