"Tum ro rahi ho?"

He had come to sit beside her hearing her sobs at a considerably safer distance.

"Hmmm"

She didn't try to hide her tears saying nahi bas ankh mein kuch chala gaya shayad

He uncomfortably shifted. He didn't know how to console her if he ought to do so. He is not responsible for her tears. He is sure, Is he?

Unsure he asked "kisliye? Kuch wajah toh hogi.. Iam not the culprit here that's for sure."

She shrugged, smiling through the tears.

"Aise hi"

Not looking at him, just staring blankly at the pouring rain. They were sitting on the porch. Though they were under shade but occasional wind was bringing in the tiny droplets which Geet didn't mind.

He looked at her irritated at her blunt reply. Aise hi kaun rota hai, like really. He exhaled sharply to reign in his volcanic anger.

"Tum aise hi roti!"

"Uh hmm…She shook her head. Her lips wobbly.

She breathed in to voice out some word coherently.

'Ab babaji mujhe itni vajah dedi hai ki koi ek wajah ho toh bataun.

She looked at him. He had been staring ahead not looking at her. Her eyes got fixed at his beautifully handsome face. It's been ages since she has seen him properly. At that moment he looked at her and she looked away and began to narrate their story.

"Humne ek sapna dekha tha, sapna chota sa tha lekin bahut khubsurat tha…she kept her hand on her tummy. Still flat.

We desired this child together. We longed for our baby. And now when the baby is there he doesn't even know.

"Your husband?"

She nodded.

"Tell him."

"I can't "

Why? He whispered.He wanted to scream "WHY". Why can't she tell? I will find out why. He promised himself.
