I was watching an episode of the recent past where Arjun and Dev are both discussing Vidhi. In that episode, Arjun starts praising Vidhi and describes her as the 'perfect marriage material'. And then Dev responds by saying, 'Woh toh hai'. I find it so problematic. Why are supposedly progressive shows still equating a woman to a material? Sounds so sexist. As if she is a good kitchen appliance to be brought home. Character of Dev is supposed to be a feminist. Then how come he didn't correct Arjun? Of course, the fault lies with the writers. Hope they are more careful in the future.

great catch...guess i was wayy too invested in the love story that such problematic line got missed.. which i detest even in real life...

For me its not the word material thats issue but quantifying a girls worth on her being a Marriage Material.. as if not being "the one" she has lesser value to the family mayka aur sasural or in the whole society...

and i think its implicit patriarchy in our society thats so deep in people's mindset and it will ages (even that feels less) to get rid of such perception towards females.

sigh.. long way for our society to think of a girl beyond marriage...

🤣It's not the word which is wrong or the way it is said in serial .....

It's the way we use in real life...

Different people use same word but the way it says or narrated change importance of word.....I can explain it really very well with example...its just that I don't want to offend any community or class of people...so the context in which it is said in serial It's not wrong at all...

Exactly. Vidhi is shown to be this perfect woman who is very good at office-work, house work and is also very mahaan (remember the scene where she compels Dev to forgive Arjun's mother?). In order to make a woman eligible to win's the male lead's heart, an imperfect and yet lovable woman with flaws won't do. It needs to be shown how sacrificing she is and how she is the reincarnation of mother Sita or something. Then she needs to be pitted against other career-oriented, independent women who have somehow got ample time to plot and kill the female lead. So rubbish...Why can't they show regressive yet powerful matriarch like Satyavati to be the villain?

They will when story demands but having regressive thoughts also doesn't mean that person is wrong..

People who have good educational qualifications, wealth or having good career options needs to be humble and polite....arrogance and ego is that jewelry which is worn by arrogant people....amba is an arrogant person....and u can easily find such people around u....

Not to offend u but the thing which matters is how u perceive something...

If a dirty child comes running to u .u have two options either u can deject them or just hug them...but person nearby things if u deject them u are ruthless and if u hug them u are unhygienic...
