Boney is producing Mili, a Hindi remake of Malayalam hit Helen that will have daughter Janhvi Kapoor in the lead.
In an interview with Times Of India, Boney said that Hindi remakes of South films are not working because they are ‘copy-pasted.’ Citing examples of Vikram Vedha and Jersey, Boney said that even titles are the same as the original films. “While remaking South films, one has to add the North Indian nativity to suit the Hindi audience. You have to make a film which will be accepted pan India,” Boney added.
I agree with him. If anything needs to be banned in Bollywood, it's these stupid remakes.
So if Mili fails, we know the reason and it's not Jhanvi? Ok.
But South Indian movies are working as is for Hindi audiences. There is nothing like North Indian nativity.
Maybe the actors are not appealing enough, maybe the songs are rubbish, maybe the story got stake, maybe the audiences already watched original movie and couldn’t see brilliance in the hindi one. Reasons can be many.
And yes remakes are BORING. Do something original first, Bollywood needs to get back to its toes and re learn the art of story and story making on screen.
How many IDs have you created till now FOD? At least a million?Originally posted by: Sweet_Melody
While I agree with his points but looks like he is forgetting he started the trend with Wanted 🤡 and also what about treasures like Good Luck Jerry and Mili, Boney uncle? 🐷
sorry to say but the truth is people are not interested to sit through saif. he is done.
I’m actually quite glad that a lot of south movies are releasing in Hindi these days. Less opportunity for the Bollywood lot to remake the movies and do a shoddy job of it.
Lol. Remakes fail when they bring something fresh to the table. You have to make the story artistically and visually compelling. It has to have unique elements not found in the original. It should not be a predictable frame-to-frame copy. You need not connect to culture or sensibilities - if then South Indian films won't be such pan-Indian hits.
Boney Kapoor ruined the soul of Subhalagnam in his remake Judaai.
Era of remakes is over unless you make some aspect of the orginal better in your remake while staying faithful to the original film.
Cultural divide as far as movie consumption is concerned is gone.
Boney himself remade mr x in bombay brahmchari as mr india 😆
