I agree, it’s unfair to come down on women. But honestly, what more can you expect from Pakistan. Culturally there are major issues with misogyny there. Women will be dragged for something minuscule whilst men will be defended and given a pass for physical and sexual abuse.Originally posted by: Kittykatkit
Hania spoke out against Mohsin so I get people wanting her to speak out against Feroze too. She’s also stillText following him which is shady, if not speak up then at least unfollow , that’s the bare minimum.
mahira Stans are saying she’s taking a social media break because of the trolling she got for her Punjabi accent in the legend of maula jatt.
And yeah I agree this is a sensitive matter and people shouldn’t be pressured to speak but social justice warriors on twitter only seem to holding the ladies feet to the fire. Powerful men like Fahad and Humayun aren’t being held to these standards.
Not saying everyone in the country is like that but broadly speaking it’s a prominent societal issue that will take aggressive education, at grassroots level, on women’s rights and gender equality, to overcome.
Even someone like Amina Isani, who is educated and intelligent holds a lot of toxic views. She’s a minority in a country with a huge illiteracy level, and she still comes out with things like: “domestic abuse is easy to prove”, “people should marry and have kids young”, etc. Untill the government prioritises education, and makes high quality education free and accessible to all citizens, nothing will change.
