Netherlands have fallen short by 9 runs but it is a bit of misnomer that the game was close. They bowled with a lot of heart after Bangladesh openers got a good start. But despite restricting Bangladesh to 144, their batters came a cropper today. Colin Ackermann played a valiant knock but hardly got any support from the other end. Taskin provided a dream start with a couple of wickets off the first two balls of the innings. Then a couple of run-outs in the same over almost killed the chase. Edwards and Ackermann added 44 for the fifth wicket but once Edwards fell, it was again Netherlands looking down the barrel. They continued getting that odd boundary but never really threatened much. There were a few rain interruptions as well but both the teams managed to eke out a full game. The final scorecard does suggest that Netherlands did come close and lost by only 9 runs but they needed a more potent display with the bat.

What was the difference between the teams? Maybe Taskin and Hasan's brilliance, maybe Afif and Mosaddek's runs, maybe the combined distance in the run outs of O'Dowd and Tom Cooper. Bangladesh did deserve to win but that came much closer than what it seemed when Netherlands were 15 for 4. Ackermann struggled to get going, but unlike Edwards, managed to get past the phase and get a few later on.

Taskin Ahmed, POTM: It's a good win for us and we needed it. We played well as a team, happy to have contributed. (On first two balls) I stuck to my basics, saw there was movement in the first innings. So I bowled Test-match lengths.

Netherlands did try but they lost the key moments and hence they also lost the game. Bangladesh were patchy with the bat. But Afif Hossain's ressurection act with the bat in the middle overs did give them some cushion. Then Taskin owned the bowling innings to ensure Bangladesh stayed ahead while defending 144
