I have perosnally not experienced but since I stayed in a boarding so we had very interesting tales.
In Shimla there is a place called ridge and a ghost story sotry associated with, what twists over the years have been given to it,is truly great.
The legend goes that a prince hailing from the Patiala royal family fell in love with a local girl but as they say they could not meet she ended her life by falling of a cliff nearby with the Prince following her but never catching up with her. Now it is said that the spirit of that unhappy girl haunts. So in my boarding there were so many girls who said they felt her hand on their shoulder.
Shimla is full of ghost stories. There are several houses that tell their own tale.
Another ritual my friends use to do is call a friendly ghost with the help of a coin.
It used to be prior to our exams, girls used to ask questions that would appear in the question paper the following day. The Coin would move and answer in yes and no. I did not see any coin moving because most of the time I was asked to keep a watch and warn if the nuns were on their rounds.
Then in Doon school too there is place where the ghost comes and chats with boys, this is what my cousin told me.
