No one with her “talent” would have gotten a chance to do a full tribute performance like this

https://youtu.be/mX_h8XcOe_I

watch this and compare her to the divas she’s trying to give tribute to

But to each it’s own !

I suppose that may be true, about more women in past centuries being more graceful and poised which only a few select in the industry now have.I remember once our dance teacher said to us that "aaj kal ki ladkiyo mein woh adaayein hi nahi hoti"😂😂

I disagree that Alia is annoying. She’s not annoying. She’s a terrible person. Putting down others, mocking others, snatching others work, going after men who are in relationship and being a homewrecker isn’t just annoying. She and RK perfectly deserve one another. Both fit one another with how terrible human beings they are.

Ya n over rated n over hyped . Kjo just forced them on to viewers as some blessing this world . destroyed industry .poor viewers .

Imagine thinking everybody in a certain decade or century was beautiful looking.

I hope people know that Akbar wasn't like how HR looks😂

Akbar was not tall, he was medium height and had oriental features, according to history. Padmavat is a folklore which was written 200 years later after Khilji. The picturization of Khiliji is also not accurate and according to history Khiliji had different ambition and was not like what portrayed in movie. I am a history buff. Also, peshwas were not really that rich and they were as barbaric as other kingdoms of the times.

I think that’s the point a lot of people are trying to make… an outsider wouldn’t have landed a role in SOTY and after that lukewarm debut they wouldn’t have gotten tailor made opportunities after opportunities to improve themselves until they could do justice to their characters

Well that takes it back to the whole nepotism debate. Yup an insider has it much more easier than an outsider, in getting their first break at least, but after that, a lot of it depends on their talent, their skills as well. Alia was pretty mediocre in SOTY, but after that she did hone her acting skills, not everybody has the knack for acting, how many have improved even after getting so many opportunities, people gave her chances, maybe because they saw some potential in her, because BW is all about business, nobody does charity there. She showed improvement pretty early on in her career too. And it’s not the case with only her, a lot of insiders or nepo kids get many chances to prove/improve themselves, at least she can act IMO.

In the 50's they had very different style of film making, not necessary that in the period times all the women had grace or could even dance well. Kalank was not a well made film at all.

It was not a well-made film. But queens were taught to be poised and proper. As well as actresses in the 50s, like you mentioned so yourself. Alia’s lazy body language didn’t suit the film. It was probably just most evident in the dance sequence. Along with it being a bad film she didn’t suit it. IMO !

to be fair peshwas weren't shown very rich by SLB,at least there were comments like that, that BM wasn't as grand as other SLB movies.

I haven't read much about the Peshwas' barbarism though, they wanted to gain their territory back from the Mughals so of course ruthlessness and all warrior like qualities must have been necessary. They certainly weren't going to other territories and skinning, burning people alive when those people refused to convert their religion.

IF people think Alia is a good actress, then you don't know what good acting is. Expend your horizon, the reason why Kdrama is kicking Bollywood ass is that their actors are really great actors. Most of them aren't even nepos, just talent acting their asses off and doing incredible jobs at it.
