To me it looks like their last desperate attempt.

As if they said make us pair or we leave. So they all came to terms that lets try it, if it doesn’t work we go for a leap n those two may have to leave then. Or may be it is their parting gift.

In real life, a child doesn't care about genes but here, audience won't accept Vinayak if he treats Pakhi like his mom so they have to show that Vinayak is Sai's son, they introduced him with Sai, he addressed her as Aai

If they want to take a completely dark path, they'll show Pakhi torturing him
