what is being ignored is economic recession and the effect of pandemic on incomes. lot of people lost jobs, had to dig into savings, also fear of similar situation has made people cautious and they dont want to splurge and given OTT etc they are anyway getting entertainment.

I also think hindi film audience has been more effected than south income wise which is why south films doing better, but even there movie going has reduced

i dont general audience knows or cares about these trends

today Indian FM in parliament was saying India is well off than other countries prices are down and inflation is under control people are buying and GST collection is huge

Rise in GST was approved by other council members too

all countries are suffering, sri lanka has collapsed. india is relatively fine, people maybe buying neccessities not luxuries, car sales have gone (it is luxury), nothing has reached pre covid levels.

people have lost jobs

not as much as the salaried class but daily wage earners etc were effected immensely, small businesses have closed, it will take time to get back
