The main character of that show also hates/dislikes women because his mother left him and his father for some other guy. His father also dies pretty early on, leaving him broken and further increasing his dislike for women. Like Basit, he is forced to marry a woman for financial reasons, though his situation is very different. Apart from these similarities, the shows are different enough to watch both.

I stopped watching Ibn-e-Hawwa a while ago, may continue at some point-not sure.

I'm not liking the new shows that I've tried tbh. So not sure what to recommend. Although, i watched Mere Humdum Mere Dost a while back and really enjoyed it.

You watched mere hum dum Mere dost 😳

That's one of my favorite drama. Glad you enjoyed it

I would like to add something to what you wrote. I think fate plays a major role in the process that makes him notice Ayesha. That moment when he is in his office worried about the financial squeeze, he turns and sees her for the first time. That moment for me was such a magical one because there she was the answer to his prayers, the solution to all his problems and he doesn't realise that. When she talks of financial difficulties in her family, she echoes the worry about finances that he himself is caught in at that moment. When he is having a breakdown in his office after Soha breaks the engagement, Ayesha goes through her own bout of anxiety caused by the landlord's demands. When she finally tells him, once again he sees a connection between the two of them.

The moment in the car as you pointed out and Farhad's advice coalesce into something more. It is by chance that she is there before him just at the very moment when he is having that argument with his mother. And he points to her as his wife but perhaps, it was already there in his mind because of the factors that you mentioned. Perhaps not voiced out even to himself. When he returns to the office after striking that deal with Ayesha's mother, the expression on his face!!! There was so much in his eyes at that moment. Perhaps he was looking at her, truly looking at her as the partner he had chosen for life. Perhaps there was that unvoiced desperation in his heart that he himself had kept repressed, the desperate desire for unconditional love. I have seen a couple of dramas of Feroze before this but that moment made me want to applaud him for his acting. His expression was so subtle and yet so deep. Ushna is a brilliant actress and Feroze really matches her step for step in this show.

But yes, he also likes the fact that Ayesha will not try to go against him or that she is not difficult to "manage" unlike Soha. There is a safety in Ayesha that he needs in his current state of mind. He trusts her instinctively which we see from the very first moment during her interview. His trust is further validated by seeing the cash in the car. He hands her the envelope to keep safe during the walima again as a sign of his trust. I want to see him scold her in the next episode because while it will be a traumatic moment for Ayesha (I do believe she will learn about the deal), it will also be a moment that in hindsight will make both of them reassess their relationship. Perhaps Ayesha will take a step back and think that this relationship is like a new job for her while for Basit, it will be another wave of realisation that she is not an employee but rather his wife.

I complete agree that fate played a crucial role. Well they were destined to be.

I loved reading your analysis of these scenes. I always chuckle when i watch that scene where they meet for the first time. See I started watching this show with the 10th episode ( so I knew they get married when I watched this scene) and then went back and watched the rest of the episodes. Basit's employee introduces Ayesha as his new PA and Basit cut him off saying he will decide that...so I am like of course....you decided to make her your wife.

That scene when returns after making a 'deal' with Ayesha's mom was surreal. The variations of emotions as he stares at Ayesha was so brilliantly potrayed. The way his eyes expressed so many emotions and the background music just added to that. I haven't watched Feroz or Ushna's previous works....actually I haven't watched many pakistani dramas. But this scene is my most favourite scene of Feroze in terms of acting. For Ushna, my most favourite scene in terms of acting, would be the confrontation after walima. When she says that she is trying and ask him to try as well...her voice cracking and she's on the verge of crying.

I don't think she will learn about the deal so soon. I feel that will be revealed once they have started falling in or have already fallen in love and things are going well...to create misunderstanding. I am not looking forward to that scolding scene...the yelling seems excessive to me in teaser but I will wait to see how the scene plays out. Ughh i wish i has come across the show much later so I wouldn't have to wait for episode every week. It is agonizing....a whole week for 1 episode. I wish they would at least air 2 episodes every week.

Amazing analysis by all of you, I’m just so excited for the love story to hit its peak, the way Basit is, he’s fire, if he’s loyal for a woman he’ll burn everything to be with her, he has suffered rejections and this makes him and his humble acceptance of his weakness so special. And yes Ayesha loves him because she sees the beauty he’s despite the way he’s behaving, she knows deep down he’s the man who could win her over all her struggles

Feroze Ushna the best of the current lot.

Girl, your words!

@ bold 🤣 So true! Hahaha! Basit, man! Seriously!

In fact that reminded me of another thing about the show I love. I don't know what will happen in the future, but I found the way that Jamal character, the P.A., developed. He is such a peripheral character and yet it gives depth to the overall story in the way he is annoyed on being called in to work after hours and has to give up his plan of hanging out with friends and then from that he starts the rumor. After Basit hauled him up before the office I had begun to think that maybe he will try to do something but the show doesn't go that way. The way he and the other girl chat about Basit looking at Ayesha was actually cute rather than toxic. And finally when Basit changes his floor for Jamal's snooping ways, it was just hilarious to see him come out with a box of his stuff. It is just a passing moment and we see it for a flash alone as Ayesha walks in to office and sits at her desk the day after the wedding. Yet just that tiny detail makes Jamal something more than a mere prop to further the story.

And seriously! That moment when Basit looks at Ayesha after the 'deal' was indeed surreal. You know, I have watched a couple of Feroze shows and he played these evil guys in them and his face would have this sharp expression in them. He would look like a shark. But at that moment his face was so soft, as if he had for that moment turned to water. And that background music! Yes! I made an audio clip out of it...will share it here.

And truly Ushna at that moment when she says 'Mein toh koshish kar rahi hoon, thoda koshish aap bhi karlein', the way those words came from her....ouff! Goosebumps indeed!

I am really enjoying the subtlety in the way emotions are being shown here. I mean even when Basit acts out and gets angry when Bobby phupo tries to give him that sweet or later at the walima, you know his actions are not simple reactions to what is happening immediately before him but rather a certain storm that is brewing within him and that irritation and annoyance being like a response to this whole business.. suddenly finding himself with a wife and in a relation that he had never ever considered for himself.

And you are right that the realisation that she has been essentially bought by Basit will have a deeper impact later once she actually realises that she loves him and is willing to trust him. They will bring it up probably a little further into the story. And I so agree with you about the torturous nature of this wait! I mean I love the fact that the show has been crafted with so much care and delicacy, but it is hard on the viewer. 2 episodes...maybe one on Tuesday and one on Friday would have made the wait a bit more bearable...but anyway...😆

Hey! You were watching the show from the beginning right?! I am thinking that I started watching it like last Friday and am dying here waiting for the next episode! So I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for you waiting after the fifth or sixth episodes....because this show has a slow burn development...things happen but they take time to shape into what the story is leading us towards...so yess...sending a virtual hug for having been here from the start🤗

And you are right about the depth of emotions in Basit. That he is such a broken soul at present what with being on anxiety medication and prone to suffering from nervous breakdowns, is because he is a sensitive soul. When he finally lets Ayesha into his heart will be a magical moment to watch.

And for Ayesha, I really think for her Basit is still someone who seems so very distant yet someone she admires. Which is why i think his reactions after the wedding make her cry finally at the office.

So so true ! Loved reading everybody's views ❤

That scene where he gets annoyed with ayeshas family also had a lot of depth..basit finds himself pretending , probably bec he doesn't want his mom to know , when he just not comfortable bec he has seen that ayeshas family is a gold digger and untrustworthy . Ayesha asks him to try to accept them but it's so difficult isn't it ? He can't accept these hypocrite selfish ppl..ayesha can't see through her mom's manipulations but basit has ..he can't tell ayesha and ayesha would expect him to do it since this is what marriage truly means. Basit wants to keep them at bay with the money but he didn't realize he will have to play this family family seriously ..he is totally unwilling to do it ..ayesha and his equation comes later , right now he can't get her family off his back ...I found his frustration justified .

His mistrust on women is cemented looking at ayeshas family . What he needs to realize is that ayesha is different from them . Yet , I would never want him to suck up to her greedy family n continue to show attitude to them..ye log toh sarr par Chad ke nachenge if they r not controlled.

And please no! I sincerely hope this drama continues in this magical path it has followed so far. I don't think this drama will go the humsafar way because firstly Basit would never trust anything that comes out of his mother's mouth. And secondly, Basit's character is already dealing with issues that were never there in Humsafar..his distrust for women is coupled with actual mental anxiety and depression. He is taking medicines which means he goes for therapy. Which is also why he returns with that glass of water for Ayesha. He knows he has a problem and he is willing to work on it.

Not exactly the same thing as humsafar of course . But the one thing basit wants from this marriage , what he is looking for in his partner is loyalty ..that's what he told soha , that loyalty is the most imp in a girl . Soha casually meeting her friend made him so uncomfortable that he left the place and made him rethink abt the marriage decision . I fear that this insecurity will make their marriage vulnerable . I hope they don't take this route and their rishta is rock solid ..that ayesha brings a positive change in him and he trusts her completely ..that his past doesn't play out in his future . One thing is for sure..his mom is a pure soul and she wants her son happy.. so she won't be the one to create any problem.

For ayesha also, trust is very imp..this 75 lakh wala secret might be detrimental to their relationship ..hope good sense prevails ..they r at epi 11 , very soon basit and ayesha will come close ..let's see what they offer in the future epis ..

Absolutely!! That is the beauty of the show I feel where the behaviour of every single character is contextualised. So even if you don't like the way someone is behaving, you understand why he or she is behaving that way. And Basit has no reason to like any of Ayesha's family members. He doesn't understand that Bobby phupo must have really dug deep into her savings in order to arrange for the meal after the nikkah. He only sees them take things...take his money, make this marriage into a business deal. So for him, they are simpy greedy people.

But I think while Ayesha's mother is really setting high standards when it comes to the depiction of maternal selfishness, Ayesha's family is more than that. There is love there as well. Zoya for instance is covetous, and annoying in her selfishness, but she also understands her family. This drama creates gray characters so well, like you know Zoya is up to no good, but yet at certain moments like during dinner when she points out that she hadn't moved because cooking oil cannot burn a person or when she joins her older sisters for that group hug, it points out something very essential about what a family is. We can't choose our family members but we love them. We might be nasty to them at times, but we still love them. This is why I think when Ayesha's family comes to see her room, they are not jealous of her. Rather they are happy for her. Zoya's touching things comes from a place where she is exploring her sister's room...that sense of "haq" over something that belongs to your sister.

It is quite another thing from Basit's point of view. He sees them as intruding, interfering, lacking any refinement or sense of knowing boundaries, and hence supremely embarrassing. He has no love for them. He sees no reason to trust them. Ayesha is the only one among the lot that he trusts, and how he trusts her. He has already shown more trust towards her than he hast to any other woman in his life. And how long have they known each other? A matter of a week or something like that I think. She asks him for money for the house rent on the third day at her job. What is the timeline exactly?

Absolutely! Basit has a lot of issues and he is really not prepared for a commitment like marriage mentally and emotionally. And one of the reasons why he chooses Ayesha is because he feels he can control her. He doesn't hesitate after she announces to him that she will be quitting her job. He goes straight to her mother because he knows these are people who are in a position that makes it easy for him to start a negotiation. His approach towards convincing Ayesha and convincing her mother are very different. To Ayesha he does not offer money but rather truth. He gives to each what they want to hear so that he gets his way in the whole business. And when Ayesha later reminds him that he had not set any conditions before the wedding, he simply tells her but now we are married. This sense of total control that he has over the marriage is something he would never have had with Soha. In fact, from the first moment of his attempt to woo Soha, we see his unwillingness, his discomfort, his repressed anger. But he pushes all those things aside and goes ahead in his attempt to marry her for the sake of saving his business. But he is never comfortable in his brief engagement with Soha. On the other hand with Ayesha, he is in control from the start. It is when after the marriage, he suddenly faces moments when he feels the control slipping from him that he gets agitated. This entire need for control is also contextualised so we can't read it simply as an extension of male ego. Basit's need for control comes from a different place.
