Aren't we being a little too harsh on TM?

Yes TM was unnecessarily rude

But She/He was not outside when it happened... People have the right to expect not to be hassled or bothered by homeless, panhandlers etc while inside a coffee shop, restaurant etc

And the homeless person had no right to assault anybody even if they were rude

regular people have asked me for money in fastfood places so I don't see the big deal in a homeless person asking for money

No, we are not. Unless he was agressive when asking, she was the one at fault. It’s her prerogative to refuse but it’s his prerogative to ask - some people will give something and others won’t. He is a homeless person so being tactful and classy may not be top of mind. If she wanted to vent she should have complained about the lack of security at Starbucks.

I have.

I get that you don't want to be bothered. Nor are you obligated to help. But why engage in such a rude way? Why not ignore if nothing else?

I just refused that I don't have change

Almost assault is not okay

And it's not the homeless person's fault, it's the company's, in this case Starbucks' fault...
