This is the second movie of the Shakespeare adaptation trilogy directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The first is Maqbool (2003) adapted from Macbeth and the other is Haider (2014) adapted from Hamlet.This movie is adapted from Othello.

Saif Ali Khan was not in favor of the title "Omkaara". It made Ajay Devgan the main character of the film. Saif was enjoying a new star status after Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste. He wanted the film to be titled "O Saathi Re".

Manoj Bajpayee wanted the role of Langda Tyagi in Omkaara but Vishal could not sign him due to financial reasons with distributors.

Aamir Khan suggested the idea of the film to director Vishal Bhardwaj. At one point Aamir was going to co-produce the film with Vishal and play the role of Langda Tyagi as well, but later after a meeting with Saif Ali Khan, Bhardwaj decided to cast him for the role instead, causing Aamir to then step out of the picture.

Vivek Oberoi read the script and wanted to do the role of Langda Tyagi. But Ajay Devgan insisted he play the role of Kesu.

Looking at some of these trivia, in multi-starrer films, actors always knew ke kaun sa role is more powerful & would make an impact more.😆
