India had not bowled a single maiden for 19 overs, but the four overs after that and before Root's dismissal yielded just a leg bye.

Root clearly felt bogged down and tried to play his shots against Shami and even against Siraj, in the end tried to cut a ball that was very close to him. India will have to keep this mantra against the ultra aggressive England batting line-up, build pressure with disciplined bowling and then force the false shot.

Shami to Jack Leach, out Caught by Pant!! Leach in his grand stay of five balls, was dropped, survived an edge that fell short, and now has nicked off. Shami finally has his share of luck in the wickets column for what has technically been a non-stop spell of 13 overs, and he does it with a typically seam-up delivery in the corridor just outside off, which is too good for Leach to not poke at, only to end up with a faint outside-edge through to the keeper.
