They understand aspects about each other but they also have their own triggers regarding their childhood traumas that neither of them know about and they are learning about them now. Regarding Akshu's comments. They were true. He was behaving like his father in forcing a decision upon Manjari just like his father also forces his decisions upon Manjari. Both with different intentions of course but the fact is they both push her with their chooses and decisions. Even Neil made a comment about that to Abhimanyu. Only his perspective is ever taken. Abhimanyu has trouble seeing things from other people's perspectives. If Abhimanyu is allowed to call people out for their actions why can't Akshu? Akshu did not mean that Abhimanyu is his father. She was just saying his actions were like his father. It was poor choice of words for sure and triggered a lot inside of him. And now Akshu knows just how much hatred he has inside of him for his father and just how deep this trauma is. Which of course I'm sure when the writers whitewash Harshvardhan they will show as much hatred Abhimanyu has on his father there is subconsciously a lot of love he wish he could give his father if only his father would mend his ways 🤔
Regarding Abhimanyu's comments about marriage I agree with you that is where his thought process was going. But Akshu got triggered because it put into question their relationship and everything they had fought for.
The probably between them is communication. You have one person who is more than willing to have a discussion and has shown to be understanding. The minute Abhimanyu gets angry he shuts down and you can no longer communicate with him. It's like talking to a wall. These two also have very different perspectives in solving family problems. The destination is the same but the way they go about it is totally different. They are going to have to learn to work together and communicate better to tackle the things ahead of them.
They also both had naïve thoughts about marriage and marry life. They had their own dreams and aspirations on what their marriage would be like and then when reality hit that things weren't going to be as they had envisioned I'm sure it hurt both of them.

I think Abhi is now consuming to himself, he is shutting down and going back to his dark zone. More than all of this issues the thing troubling him is the thought that he can't keep AK happy. After mrg there was not a single moment of peace and happiness for them. And adding to this upon his agry mode she just left him. Before mrg from onwards he was highly tensed abt how will his anger affect their life and it turn out that because of his anger AK left him. So as someone suggested Abhi will tell GV that AK may stay there for some more time. It will keep the mu more deep and they will hurt more. May be manju can say AK abt what Abhi said and as usual AK will make him understand their position. Thus their understanding may grow stronger and some where Abhi's insecurity can be addressed.
