Watched bridget Jones diary a few days ago as it was a highly rated movie and the male leads were familiar, one was part of old Hollywood romcoms and another lead played bbc Mr Darcy. It made me think how many comedy movies or romcom movies are based upon a woman being a dumbass. Bridget is clumsy, speak without thinking, constantly humiliate herself in front of others, unlike how an adult woman will behave. It's supposed to be amusing and that's what made the men fall for her, her loveable idiot character. Similarly in comedy movies, if a guy is dumb like this, from village he's supposed to teach the shehri memsaab lesson and makes her fall for Her. In both scenerios, it's very weird for a female character. Either she's a moron or she has an attitude.
