I think the reason they showed the cycle scene is to make Param revive the past and understand that he's brainwashed. Param , looked a bit confused , like he knows it was a scene between him and Karan but doesn't realize why he feels so emotional regarding it.

Exactly. I see so many people call her the best cadet just because she's Karan's gf and a doctor , I mean everyone are good in their own ways , like Sid and Suman ji are more observative. If she's the best , as you have said she should have gotten free from his hold but she has to wait for Karan to save her 🤔
