There is probably going to be some silent but strong defiance being displayed later on by Abhi. The best way to prove a point is to make sure whatever it is they taunted you with doesn't happen. Abhi's continual support of Akshu will just irk them even more. And Akshu succeeding in her career will prove them wrong.

It all comes back to HAM's egos that cloud all their judgement to clearly. They don't see nor understand this love, as they have not experienced it. As for Harsh, I think it all comes back to the fact that he doesn't understand, or even try to understand, his own son. That is the greatest issue in Harsh-Abhi's relationship anyways. He thinks that Abhi blindly follows around Manjari and Akshu, but he fails to recognize why Abhi loves them so much -- because they give him all of the understanding, support, and love that he has failed to his entire life.
