I seriously do not like that word donation in context of kanyadaan. May be because I have always associated donation is something that is done in monetary terms. I am with you on this: " Kanyadaan ke baad ladki parayi hojati hai". I even wonder what is the significance of rituals and all those vows and pheras that a groom and bride takes. It is being said that Aginidev (Fire God.. We have so many gods and goddesses) is the witness of the union. But where these vows go when people take divorce? What is the use of these rituals? Why don't they do reverse pheras? Even the so called ritual of giving something in daughter's marriage is ridiculous. A girl is coming to someone's house leaving her family, what else needs to be given?

But I'm really sorry I still don't like the ritual.. daan = donation right.. ? Let's agree to disagree here..❤

I'm not quite aware of the pheras and all.. so won't comment on that.. and Ikr.. all the negative hype related to daughter's wedding is just to not done man..
