Iāve been enjoying reading everyone's thoughts about the current forced marriage track. I see some people in this thread speaking about Imlieās lack of growth and her continued love for AKT during the forced marriage track and wanted to offer my perspective.
When AKT first comes to Imlie to tell her about Aryanās revenge and how he is using her she defends Aryan really strongly and has a lot of faith in him and their relationship. If Imlie had not grown or was still in love with AKT she would not have responded that way or been able to fight with him for Aryan in my opinion.
However, even if Imlie has grown she is still young and that is shown by how tightly she clings to the idea that Aryan is perfect and how their relationship/he seems to have become her anchor. It is never healthy to think this way because people are human and make mistakes and/or act in ways that are unexpected.
She doesnāt believe AKT is right until she hears it from Aryan himself and then she becomes emotional and angry and tries to fix things for the Tripathi's. I donāt think this is because she is in love with AKT or hasnāt grown, she fights for the family because at her core that is who Imlie is as a person - always trying to undo injustices, in this case, it is the wrongful imprisonment of someone. It is very clear in my opinion that she isnāt doing it for just AKT specifically but for the Tās overall.
I think a part of her behaviour though and the irrationality she shows by yelling at reporters or fighting with Aryan and quitting has more to do with their own relationship than with his revenge against AKT. She seems to be grieving their friendship and the end of her 50/50 partnership with someone who stabilizes her and she is also starting to have feelings for. When you see her begging for the Tās happiness it is interesting because the old Imlie would have labelled him as a villain and gone out to find proof to free AKT herself. However, she keeps coming to Aryan to solve the problem as if the issue is not just AKT being imprisoned but also that she wants to prove to herself that he is still a good person who will leave his revenge for her.
The way that Sumbul had played her throughout this time has been a mix of sadness, anger and an almost blankness as if she doesnāt know what to do now that Aryan isnāt the person that she thought he was. I think Aryan is struggling to understand this because he is insecure and does not realize how strongly she feels for him or how much she values him. Because of this, he misinterprets it as her loving the Tās and AKT and it becomes easy for the audience to accept this narrative as well. Aryan himself is playing this up by allowing their misunderstandings to fester in an effort to hide his motivations from her and also try to get her to fight back and fight for herself. I feel like that is dumb on his part though and I hope we see some changes to his approach as the rasams continue.
About Aryan...
When Aryan gets hurt and hallucinates Imlie we get to see his more emotional and irrational side start to come out in relation to her. When she questions him and his revenge, his insecurities and love for her make her think she will leave him for AKT and he reacts badly and tries to force the marriage because he doesnāt want her to leave him and in doing so further alienates her. Aryan partly wants to get away from AKT and the Tās and focus on herself but clings to that as his only reason for wanting to take her away from them. So yes, Aryan has become an idiot and is going against the character we have seen so far in the last few episodes. I donāt see this as a total deviation from his character so much as a progression in his story. I think his character/persona put on due to his trauma is starting to crack and Imlie and his love for her is changing him as a person, and part of that change will come through a period of time where he will be irrational and less controlled. The execution of this change in his thinking/character in the show is not done super well though, so his actions seem really random and confusing sometimes.
