I was just skimming through the 'Duke and I' and omg, they changed sooooo much from the books!
All the humor was gone.
And Simon deliberately misled Daph into believing he can't have children despite him knowing she's an innocent. In fact, she asks him point blank if he's impotent and he denies it laughing at her and saying there are other reasons for not having children. He does not bother to correct her.
So that change from the books is good, else Simon wouldn't have been as much of a sympathetic character.
As for the discovery by Anthony, the duel and the rest, I wish they'd used the moments from the book - they were damn funny.
Which brings me to this season and TVWLM - I'm forced to conclude that these writers have no obligation to stick to the books' storylines at all. They can change anything in anyway they want to. Here they have adhered to the basic plotline- that of Edwina being courted by Anthony and Kate disapproving but who knows anything beyond that?
Who knows if we will even get to see Kate's fears and insecurities like they play out in the book, or Anthony's?
At this point, I'm really holding out hope that they don't mess up TVWLM so much that I give up watching. It's the book (and the couple) I'm most invested in, Idc what they do for the rest of the books, but please, please, Bridgerton bosses don't ruin my Kathony! π
