Yeh ho sakta hai! Entirely plausible!

Dhanu would know ki Karan would be given that responsibility or at least, Karan would know or be able to ask about that information.

Could it be that that would be one of the clues that'd do them in? Karan obviously pen drive khule mein toh chodega nahi. Kahin chhupa kar rakhi hogi jiske baare mein yaa toh sirf Faizi ko pata hoga saath mein ya phir use bhi nahi.
Toh jab Batra Sir will ask about it, toh Balli ke paas koi jawaab nahi hoga, and it'll raise suspicion kyunki Karan ko toh pata honi chahiye ki wo pen drive kahan hai.

Maybe they'll even threaten to kill Monami and Karan would be conflicted and then remember the vows Monami made to him where she said ki wo unke pyaar ko uski duty ke beech mein nahi aane degi, and he'll say ki 'Monami ke liye apne desh se beimaani nahi karunga main' ya something along that line.

Terrorists ka toh yeh hi hai ..jaise Dhanno be bola tha ki even if she dies,the mission will go on..bas yeh hi hai ki agar head destroy ho gaya toh it will take time for their organisation to regroup & strike back..inka jo woh main banda dikhaya tha during Republic Day,I hope uska bhi kuch dikhaye..he was shown as someone deadly..

Karan ne yeh bhi bola tha ki inn logon ke paas itne weapons nahi hoge ,so maybe that is the main plan but Balli last minute par flip karega when he realises what is happening(maybe)
