If this is the reason then they should not have made a historical that too about Bajirao and Kashibai both iconic characters of Indian History!! If you do not have money make your regular sas bahu drama or college romance drama!! Why make historical?

but I think the actress which is cast will look slightly better as a Marathi than Samiksha

They needed someone who is native to the language of Marathi and Maharashtra and has clear idea about Maratha History!! You tell me how much about Maratha Empire is taught in our school books!! These newbies would have no idea about the characters they will play but if they casted SaiShi or someone from Maharashtra then they would have the basic idea about the characters they are going to play!!

There was a show on Sony also called " Bajirao" . they claimed to focus on bajirao conquest but eventually they too brought the Mastani angle

Bold: yes I agree…they will surely bring her but may not be a significant role coz the main focus will be Kashi & Bajiroa unless they want to make it a triangular love story…

My God, the Sony show…I used to read written updates to see whether it was worth watching after they introduced adult characters..the kid track was doing decently… but after the leap they completely goofed up, they changed it into a pati patni and woh wala track..To show Bajirao and Mastaani as some star crossed lovers, they turned Kashi as a grey character making her obsessive and Bajirao having no feelings for her and considering her as only a responsibility…it was a complete distortion of story, which didn’t go well with the viewers..The triangular love story didn’t work and show was off air within few months of taking the leap…

Viewers watching historical don’t watch it for saas bahu drama or triangular love story…

End of the day it’s economics, period drama is more expensive in terms of production value and they cannot spin the regular daily soap drama in historical..viewers expect a fresh storyline so they also need an ensemble of support cast with a proper characterization and interesting plot…so it’s an expensive affair…if the kids track do well they go for bankable stars for older versions else settle for less popular actors…

Muje tho casting se jyada history ki jo band bajathe hai, usse dar lagtha hai…I heard Vidrohi was more of a soutan drama, Peshava Bajirao was more like Heer Ranja, let’s see what they do here😆

Most of the ITV shows do not have production budget for historicals!! These idiots don't even know how to even make a historical show!! Look at Marathi historical shows like Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji or Raja Shiv Chattrapati!! So much less production value than ITV shows but what a good use of budget and what good casting!! Seeing these shows will make you really feel that you are transported in that era!!

at least in Maharashtra, the history book for 4th std in state board had all chapters about Shivaji Maharaj

It is indeed sad that we learn only about Maratha Empire if we take History as a subject for graduation!! Shivaji Maharaj have a so much important historical value to our country's history but our history books don't even mention him!! Sad and ironic indeed!!
