It definitely has to be something that implicates Imlie. The marriage certificate is a backdated one. ASR may have come up with this marriage idea to protect Imlie saying they're married already. It may have been something that was supposed to be an understanding or agreement between him and Imlie (though won't be surprised if when the certificate first comes out in the open, even Imlie is clueless about it. ).

But they didn't factor in AKT's majnugiri who doesn't believe that they're married and to bring out the truth, goads them into actually going the full way and doing it rightly. Imlie will panic and not agree, and that will defeat the purpose of the plan and put Imlie right back in danger.

Maybe that's when ASR himself brings up the AKT-Arvind connection and tells Imlie that if she doesn't marry him, he will send AKT to jail. Obviously, to make it believable he will go all like, that's why I came into your life, helped you against Malini, wanted to separate you from AKT, yada, yada, yada... And Imlie will be heartbroken again, especially after today's scene where she thinks he's been doing it all selflessly. So, there you have it, forced marriage, BUT without butchering ASR.

I don't think they will bring in the Arvind connection well after Imlie has fallen consciously in love with him. If they bring out Arvind drama now, how do they sustain future drama?
