Chapter 19

Akshu sat on her bed, eating ice cream and kept looking at Aaru, who was sitting next to her reading a book. After some time, Akshu got frustrated with the silence, put her bowl on the night table and took Aaru's book. Aaru look at her confused.

"Kya hai?" Akshu asked.

"Kya hai?" Aaru asked her back.

"Main kab se bed pe ice cream kah rahi hoon aur tu gussa bhi nahi kar rahi, kuch bol bhi nahi rahi mujhe!"

Aaru sat up. "Oh. Main aap ko kuch keh sakti bhi hoon?"

"Aap? Main kab se aap hogi tere liye." Akshu said confused.

"Badi behn ho. Aap se toh mujhe respect se baat karni hai. Haina, Didi?" Aaru smiled at her.

"DIDI??? Tu pagal hai?"

"Haan hoon. Aisi behn ke saath reh kar main pagal kaise nahi ho sakti?"

"Maine kya kiya?" Akshu said angrily.

"Haan aap ne kuch bhi nahi kiya...bas hum sab pagal hain. Meri behn, Didi-ji, aap ko jo karna hai aap karo. Mujhe aap se kuch kehna ka kuch bhi haq nahi hai iss liye main sone jah rahi hoon." Aaru put her head on the pillow and turned the other way.

"Aaaruuuuu! Aaru tu naraz hai na?" Akshu shook her. "Aaru! Tumhe pata hai na tu naraz hoti hai toh mujhe neend nahi aati."

"Out of 24 hours, you sleep for 23 hours aur phir keh rahi ho neend nahi aati. Wah."

"Tum iss liye naraz ho na kyunki mane Abhi ke rishte ke liye mana kar liya? Tum uss khadoos ke liye apni behn se naraz hogi ab?"

Aaru sat up. "Nahi. Main Abhimanyu ki wajah se naraz nahi hoon. Nobody else matters to me except you. Main tumhari wajah se naraz hoon. Akshu." Aaru took a deep breath.
"Why? I want to know why you said no."

"Because I don't love him." Akshu said flatly.

"Acha? And since when were you looking to marry someone you love? Tu khud kehti hai ke you are fine with getting married first aur phir pyar like Mumma and Papa...dekh Akshu. Tu sab ko fool bana sakti hai magar mujhe nahi....sach sach bata. Warna baat mat kar mujhse."

"Aaru, samajh na. This is not right. We are not right for each other..he doesn't deserve..."

"Akshu please!" Aaru stopped her. "Ab yeh purani gisi hui line mat bol ke oh he doesn't deserve someone like me...I'm not good enough for him, blah blah."

"Main aisa kyun kahoon gi?!?"

"Toh phir?"

"Main yeh keh rahi hoon ke we are not right for each other. We are too different. He doesn't deserve someone like me and I don't deserve someone like him. Actually, I don't think I even need to get married now to anyone."

"Haan maine mana tum dono bohat different ho but Akshu you guys compliment each other. Your differences is what make you perfect for each other. Tu khud kehti hai ke Abhimanyu kitna khadoos hai lekin tumhare saath he smiles and laugh and hell, he even agreed to dance! Aur tum? Everyone been after you to finish your thesis...jo bhi ho, magar you started working on it because of him...aur yeh toh bas shuruwat hai na."

"Aaru tu samajh kyun nahi rahi hai?"

"Toh samjha mujhe."

"Yaar main kaise aise rishtey mein apney aap ko bandh loon jab ke mera apney aap se koi rishta nahi hai? Main itney saalon se apni nautanki ke peeche apney aap ko chupa rahi hoon ke aaj toh mujhe yeh bhi yaad nahi ke asli Akshara kaun hai, kaisi hai. Aise mein kisi aur ke saath koi rishta kaise bana sakti hoon?"

"Akshu, yahi hai asli Akshara jo doosron ko muskrane ke liye apney dukh bhool jahti hai, jo kisi ke ek sorry kehne pe un ki saari galatiyan maaf karti hai, jo sab ko hamesha khush karne ki koshish karti hai, jo sab se pyar karti hai...jis ka dil sab se bada aur sab se saaf hai....Asli Akshara woh hai jo sach mein iss duniya ki nahi aur shayad Abhimanyu ko wahi Akshara se ab pyar ho gaya hai." Aaru said holding Akshu's hand.

"Aaru, please. Abhi ko mujhse koi pyar wyar nahi hai. Waise bhi he doesn't even believe in love. Aur agar hota bhi toh he would fall in love with a model or someone. Not someone who he finds useless and an idiot. He probably doesn't even know ke...."

"He knows. And he wants this."

"Then it's because of his parents and waise bhi..."

"No. He himself wants this. He likes you, Akshu. Can't you see it in the way he is around you? The way he looks at you?"

"No, I don't. Aaru, bas. Mujhe aur baat nahi karni. Gussa hona hai, ho ja. Mujhe sone de."

"FINE."

"Fine."

Aaru turned the lights off and they both slept with their backs to each other.

"Aaru, you dance with Abhimanyu and I'm dancing with Neil." Akshu announced to Aaru at the sangeet.

"What? No! You dance with your partner....we all have different moves." Aaru exclaimed.

"Fine. I won't dance then."

"Then don't." Aaru said storming off. She saw Abhi talking to his mom and went to him and told him what Akshu said.

"Is she really that upset? Now what?" Abhi asked.

"Leave her. Nautanki kahi ki."

"Sach mein nautanki e hai." Abhi agreed.

"Hey now! Meri Akshu ko mat bolo."

"Meri Akshu." Abhi reminded her.

"Fine. Hamari Akshu."

"Let me go talk to her." Abhi said as he went to look for Akshu.

"Naina told me they are well prepared for their performance." Vatsal said to Akshu. "And now their cousin, Ananya is here too and she's a mast dancer."

"Tumhe kaise pata yeh Ananya is a mast dancer?" Akshu crossed her arms.

"Behn ho tum meri. I spied on them for you." Vatsal said proudly. Akshu was about to attack him when Abhi came. Vatsal ran off.

"Hi Akshu! I been looking everywhere."

"Abhi, mujhe koi baat nahi karni."

"Abhimanyu?" Someone said from behind Akshu and Abhi. They both turned to see a tall, beautiful girl in a maroon lengha.

"Ananya?" Abhi said stunned. "What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same." Ananya came up to Abhi and hugged him. "The bride, Diya is my cousin."

"Oh right. Krish is one of my closest friends."

Akshu stood there watching them talk. So this is the mast dancer, Ananya. Hai toh bohat sundar...but yeh Abhi ko kaise jahnti hai?

"So I heard you moved to India now?" Ananya asked him.

"Ya. You know I always wanted to work at my family's hospital. Where's Yash, by the way?"

"We broke up." Ananya said shaking her head. "I'm sorry, and you are?" Ananya asked Akshu.

"I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce you two. Ananya, this is Akshara. Krish's sister and a very special friend of mine. And Akshu, this is Ananya."

"Your friend?" Akshu asked Abhi.

"His ex fiancé." Ananya said.

Lo ji. Yeh Ananya bhi aa gayi. Ab what? Will Akshu be jelly? Will they dance at the sangeet?
