Not sure, if we can discuss this on this forum. Since it’s not related to the show 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haven't there been shows that have similar tracks? Maybe not the exact one. But it would be nice to have a show centered around this particular concept.

Hmmm are we discussing mother in law treating daughter in law as their own daughter? I feel never have expectations from anyone. Instead focus on girls being shown as financially independent and standing on their own. They showed that in Sonakshis role in Kuch rang. Fight for themselves when needed and learn to face the world. Don't let anyone dominate over you because no one deserves that. TV serials should focus on that instead.

To be honest I never really like Sonakshi from Kuck Rang. But I do see that anytime there is any woman showing as financially independent or career minded they automatically become some villian/vamp of the show 🤔

Just curious why you did not like Sonakshi. I felt she was one of the best and strong female leads we had. Just talking about season 1. Later seasons were not worthy.

Copy and pasting from the other thread.

There have been few shows with these tracks but have ultimately bowed down to trp's except for one, AFAIK.

Mehendi Hai Rachne Wali - MiL supported widowed DiL, even supported her in her 2nd marriage.

Diya Aur Bhatti - MiL refused at first but then slowly accepted DiL studying to become an IPS officer. Family do not believe in bahu's studying/working. It was interesting as MiL became a staunch supporter and proud.

Dahleez (?) - DiL and MiL battled it out in court.

I am sure there had been others but can't recall them now. The reason we don't see much of these on indian tv is simply because the major demographic that watches serial shows are traditional stay at home housewives who want masala and larger than life drama they can ostensibly relate to and pass the time. These viewers are the core group, rest are transients which is why you have couples like Abhira for the transients group but have Goenka's and Birla's for the core group. Indian TV gurus dare not lose their bread and butter group so every story always come back to tropes appealing to that group.

When I say transient group - I mean the group who are studying, working and so may not be home constantly to watch and therefore contribute to consistent trps.

Of course with OTT and other platforms more bolder stories are being explored especially aimed at those who had their fill of masala driven regurgitated stories.

In essence the stories seen on indian TV shows is driven, and run, by the needs and demands of it's core audience.
