Chapter 12

"Are you guys really friends now?" Aaru asked. "I am honestly surprised seeing how angry you were with him."

"Haan....but he said sorry so what's the point of dragging it...." Akshu said as she continued to water Mimi's plants.

"Only you, Akshu. Nobody would be so forgiving...." Aaru shook her head. "But chalo, it's better for you two to be friends. So he's no longer khadoos?"

"He's still a khadoos. But he's also my friend." Akshu smiled at her sister. "Ummm....I wonder if I can get him to agree to dance at Krish bhaiya...."

"Now you are pushing it!" Aaru laughed. "Did you not see him try to dance at the engagement?"

"Toh kaun hamare ghar mein Prabhu Deva hai? Have YOU see Naksh Mamu dance?" Akshu stopped. "Aaru! We should make the khadoos do the naagin dance!"

The sisters looked at each other and bursted out laughing.

"No. Absolutely not. I'm not dancing to anything....and what is this naagin dance....what?....no no Akshu, no. Ya I don't care ke hum dost hain...no I can't do this for dosti ki kathir....nope. What! Now what is this Bole Chudiyan? .....Make Neil be your partner.....ya I don't care if Vatsal is your other option.....no Akshu......Fine! Rehearsal ke liye kab aana hai?" Abhi walked around his room talking on the phone to Akshara. He was so busy talking, he didn't notice someone was listening to him. His mom stood at the door and tried not to laugh.

"Kya hua?" Manjiri said after Abhi hanged up. "Akshu ne mana liya? Akshu ae e aisi...sab ko mana e lehti hai."

"She blackmailed me." Abhi said rolling his eyes.

"Kaise?"

"By reminding me about how I yelled at her and how she forgave me...."

"She's not wrong." Manjiri laughed.

"Maa, what is this naagin dance?"

"Kya? Yeh tu Akshu se pooch!" Manjiri laughed.

"Right."

"Waise Abhi. Mujhe khushi hai ke tum Akshu ko jahne ki koshish kar rahe ho....."

"Maybe I did jump to conclusions very fast.....but we still have a long way to go, Maa."

"Pata hai. Take your time. Hum baaraat leke kade nahi hain."

Just then Abhi received a message from Akshu. He read it and laughed. "But I still think she's crazy...."

"Woh toh hai....What is she saying now?"

"Get ready to become my soniya...and a link with some song."

"Well. Get ready to be her soniya." Manjiri laughed.

Mimi, Badi Mumma, Surekha, Gayu and Keerti sat in the Goenka living room going over details of Krish's Sangeet. Akshu sat next to Keerti making a list of songs and deciding on who should dance to what.

"Itna focus tu apney studies pe karti toh aaj koi Doctor hoti." Gayu said to Akshu.

"Kya Masi! Main toh hoon albeli...haazaron mein akeli....saada tune aab dekha, hunar ko na dekhaaaaaaa...." Akshu started to sing.

"Shuru gayi phir se yeh!" Mimi shook her head.

"Acha Akshu, main hamesha yeh samjhi ki tum itni filmy ho..." Keerti looked at Akshu.

"Haan woh toh hoon..."

"Lekin maine suna tum arranged marriage ke liye ready hogayi? Mujhe laga pakka tum koi DDLJ wali love story ki wish karogi."

"Woh sirf movies mein achi lagti hai...ain't nobody got that time for that in real life. Waise bhi, arranged marriage hamare desh mein ek try and tested formula hai. Krish bhaiya aur Diya Bhabi ki bhi arranged marriage ho rahi hai aur woh kitney cute hain!"

"Thu thu thu!" Said Mimi

"Lo phir se Rajan Shahi ki atma chali gayi Mimi mein!" Akshu laughed.

"Gayu, take my walking stick and hit her!"

"Mimmmmiiiii! Aap ki shaadi bhi arranged thi, na?"

"Haan thi."

"Toh aap Momo se shaadi ke baad miley?" Akshu asked.

"MOMO??? Momo kaun?"

"Aapke pati dev aur kaun?" Everyone tried not to laugh.

"Yeh ladki ek din mere haath pittegi!"

"Acha Akshu, patta hai jab tu choti thi na, pata hai kya hua?" Badi Mama asked Akshu.

"Kya hua, Badi Mumma?"

"One day, Kairav picked you up and dropped you by accident and you hit your head very badly! Remember, Maa-Ji?" Mimi nodded.

"Phir kya hua?" Akshu asked horrified. "Bohat chot lagi mujhe?"

"Uss waqt toh tum theek thi magar uss chot ka asar ab nazar aa raha hai!" Everyone laughed.

"Hahahaha...NOT!" Akshu folded her arms and pouted. "Aap sab ki life meri wajah se colorful hai."

"Yeh toh hai!" Keerti pulled Akshu's cheek. "Chalo, decide on your songs now."

"Vatsal ke bache!!! Meri billi tumse acha dance karti hai!" Akshu yelled at her cousin in frustration.

"You don't have a billi!" Vatsal reminded her.

"Exactly!" Akshu sat down on the floor.

"Arrey what is bro doing here? Don't tell me, he's gonna dance too!" Neil laughed as they saw Abhimanyu enter the Singhania residence where the rehearsals were being held.

"Oye Michael Jackson ki sasti copy! Yahan kya Dance India Dance chal raha hai aur tu Geeta Kapur hai? Khud toh doh steps theek se nahi kar sakta......" Akshu went off on Neil. "Hello, Abhimanyu! You are late!"

"Sorry..I was stuck in a surgery."

"Excuses." Akshu mumbled to herself.

"Akshu, I had a surgery...how is..."

"Okay! We are running out of time! Get to work, people!" Akshu got up and started to yell. "Abhi...you will be dancing with me. Neil is dancing with Aaru....because POOJA broke her foot." Akshu looked at Neil in anger.

"Oh Saroj Khan ki bhootni, chill." Aaru rolled her eyes.

"Okay...Vatsal will be Amitabh Bachchan and Nishta is Jaya....ready? 1....2...3...Turn the song on, Nishta! Are you waiting to actually turn into Jaya?" Akshu yelled at her.

"What's wrong with her?" Abhi asked Aaru. Abhi had never seen this side of Akshu before.

"So many things!" Vatsal laughed.

"No, I mean whats wrong with her today?"

"Kuch nahi. She thinks she's some dance guru so rehearsals ke time she goes a little overboard. Don't worry, she will be back to her normal self soon."

"NO TALKING! This is not Koffee With Karan!" Akshu yelled from the front. "Abhi, tum mere partner ho...come here!"

Abhi sat down on a chair exhausted. He drank some water and took off his shoes. Not even a surgery ever had him work this hard....after being bossed around by Akshu for three hours straight, he was both irritated and at the same, happy? He wouldn't admit it out loud but he actually enjoyed himself.

Akshu came and sat next to him. "You need a lot more practice!"

"Umm okay? When is the next rehearsal? I'll check my schedule..." Abhi took out his phone and pulled up his calendar.

"No. You need extra rehearsals. You are worst than Vatsal....too stiff."

"Akshu, I'm a doctor. I don't have time for extra rehearsals." Abhi reminded her.

"Haan toh neither do I. But I'm making time. I have to make you a dancing star! Tell me when your breaks are.....we can practice then."

"What? At the hospital? No way."

"I'll see you tomorrow. In your cabin. Wear your dancing shoes." Akshu got up. "Oye! Vatsal ke bache...tu dekh mein kya karti hoon tere saath!" Akshu ran off before Abhi could protest.

"Wow! I can't believe I'm saying this but I like her nautanki version better." Abhi sighed to himself. He put his shoes back on and laughed watching Akshu pull Vatsal's hair. "Chal Abhimanyu beta. Get ready to turn into a dancing star."

Is Akshu the biggest nautanki? Who feels bad for Vatsal??? Also poor Abhi! Will the extra dance lessons bring them
