Chapter 10

"Uss khadoos ko toh main dikha ke rahongi....." Akshu mumbled to herself as she got ready for bed.

"Chod na, Akshu....tu bas apney thesis pe focus kar." Aaru said as she laid next to her.

"Haan toh main apney thesis finish kar ke dikhaongi uss khadoos ko ke Akshu bhi...."

"Dekh Akshu. Tujhe jo bhi karna hai tu apney liye kar. Kisi aur ke liye nahi. Tujhe kisi aur ko kuch bhi prove karney ki zaroorat nahi."

"Yeh bhi correct hai....oh dekh! 11:11! Angel's time!"

"Tujhe kab se iss pe believe karti hai?" Aaru asked.

"Nahi karti magar jahta kya hai? Let me make a wish. Dear Kanha-ji! Please punish that Abhimanyu! Please uss khadoos ko aisi biwi doh jo bilkul uske opposite ho. Uss mein woh saari cheezein ho jo Khadoos ko pasand na ho.....aur..."

Aaru looked at her sister and wondered if she should laugh or cry. "Aur kya?"

"....Aur us khadoos ko apni uss opposite wali biwi se pyar hojaye!"

"Yeh kaisi punishment hai?" Aaru asked. "Pyar ho jaye toh punishment nahi hui na!"

"Aarey ek galti ke liye puri life toh punishment nahi mil sakti. Pehle uss ki biwi usse tang karegi toh meri revenge ho jayegi...phir baad mein he can like her."

"Right. Acha chodo uss khadoos ko. Tu apney liye wish maang."

"Angels time toh over hogayi. Mujhe kya? Hey Kanha-ji, mujhe bas Siddharth Malhotra dedo!"

"Sid se yaad aya, meri dost bata rahi thi uski setting Kiara ke saath hogayi?"

"KYA?? Mera phone de!" Akshu sat up. "Let me check India-Forums! Sid apni Akshu ke saath yeh nahi kar sakta!"

Aaru smiled handing Akshu her phone. For now, Akshu was distracted and tomorrow she will go and talk to Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu got done with his last appointment and hurried to the cafe where he was supposed to meet with Aarohi. He was late but he hoped Aarohi will understand.

When he got there, he saw Aarohi sitting at a corner table drinking from a cup. He walked up to her table and sat down. "I got caught up with a patient. I'm sorry."

"You should be saying sorry to my sister not me." Aarohi said angrily.

"I should. You are right and I will. It seems like she told you what happened."

"No she didn't. I actually don't know what happened exactly but I do know she was extremely upset and it was because of you and that's all I need to know."

"Aarohi. I shouldn't have snapped at her. I don't know what got into me. I was having a bad day at work aur upar se Maa ki baatein mere dimag mein chal rahi thi ke kaise sab chahte hain meri shaadi Akshara se ho aur...."

"Dekho Abhimanyu. Mujhe nahi pata aapki Maa ne aap se kya kaha hai lekin rishta aap ki taraf se aaya tha. Hum mein se koi Akshu ki shaadi ke baare mein soch bhi nahi raha tha and if you don't want to marry her, fine. Say so. But you have no right to treat her in such a way to make her cry." Aarohi snapped at him.

"I know. It's just that I don't think Akshara is right for me. I need someone who takes life a little seriously, who knows life is not just a joke. Akshara lives in a bubble without any care or concerns....I need..."

Aarohi started to laugh. "It's okay if you think Akshu is not right for you. You should marry someone who you find compatible. But I'm sorry. Exactly what do you know about my sister? She lives in a bubble? She doesn't know what real life is like?"

"Aarohi, I'm sure your sister is a great girl but ever since I've come back, Ive only seen her clown around, making a joke out of everything..."

"And? Should she just be a khadoos and throw her weight around on everyone? Your family wants you to marry her right? Have you even tried to get to know her without jumping to all these conclusions? You are a doctor. When a patient comes to you, do you diagnose them after talking to them for a few minutes or do you run many tests before deciding what might be wrong with them? I'm sure as a doctor you know what appears on the surface might not always be what's inside."

"I get that but..."

"Often those who appear the happiest are the ones who are fighting the biggest battles inside."

"What do you mean?" asked Abhimanyu.

"My sister, who you claim lives in a bubble and doesn't know what the real world is like..." Aarohi smiled. "Pata hai, main bohat choti thi jab hamari Mumma chali gayi....aur phir Papa. Mujhe yaad bhi nahi aur uss waqt mujhe itni samajh bhi nahi thi. That turned out to be a blessing with me....I was able to move on in my life because like they say, you can't really miss something you never had. Kairav Bhaiya was old enough to remember and understand and then on top, he had to take the responsibility of his two sisters.....but Akshu? Akshu was old enough to have memories of what we lost but was too young to understand then......" Aarohi took a deep breath and drank some water while Abhimanyu waited for her to continued. "Kya hai na Abhimanyu, when we love someone and we lose them, we are left with a void. We have all this love in us to give but nobody to give it to. Sometimes we meet other people or find something else and that void gets filled but other times, that void becomes bigger with time. The love we carry turns into pain. Kairav Bhaiya and I were able to fill that void somehow but Akshu never did. When we lost Mumma and Papa, Akshu only saw everyone cry all the time and be upset. She used to sleep with her ears covered so she couldn't hear Mimi screaming and Kairav Bhaiya crying. Her nautanki and her loudness? It's her way to cope with everything....she learned to hide her own pain very early on so Bade Papa and Badi Mumma had one less thing to worry about. She made it seem like she was fine so all the attention could be on me and Kairav Bhaiya...."

"I'm sorry, Aarohi. I left for boarding school shortly after you lost your parents. I really didn't know all of this."

"You wouldn't because you never tried to understand my sister. Abhimanyu, my sister is the most selfless, most loving and most genuine person you will ever meet. Don't think for one second that she will be the lucky one to marry you because the truth is, you will be the lucky one to have her."

"Aarohi..."

"Abhimanyu. Listen. Don't think I'm here to convince you to marry her. If you don't want to marry her, that's fine. She will find someone else and I'm sure you will too. I'm only here to tell you....no, to warn you to never call my sister an idiot or useless or whatever it is that you called her."

Abhimanyu smiled. "I won't. I promise. You are right. I never did try to understand her. Will it be okay with you if I meet her to apologize? I would like to know her better."

Aarohi looked at suspiciously for a few minutes. "Fine. But I am warning you if...."

"I won't do anything to make her upset."

"Okay."

"Would you like to order something?"

"Nah....I have to go back to work....but I'll be watching you, Abhimanyu." Aarohi smiled and left.

Abhimanyu watched her go and laughed. Dono behne pagal hain. He took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, Akshara? Please don't hang up....is there anyway we can meet up?"

Maybe or maybe not the next Abhira scene is my favorite....🤐

But how do we like Aarohi? What will Abhi say to Akshu? Will Akshu meet up with him?
