A long time ago , I read Naipaul's India: A Million Mutinies Now and while I have forgotten most of the book, the title stayed with me.

As I see the increasing uneasiness in my own developed country as roti, petrol and especially makan become more expensive , I can't help wondering how the common man is faring In India.

Their real issue was why he did Islamic style prayer and not just prayer with folded hands like others.

I think it’s always safer to marry within your own community. I’m all for inter caste marriage but it’s not always easy, especially if you are a girl and marrying into a more conservative caste.

By the way, I’m not talking about accents. It’s the language itself. None of us speak punjabi or have a punjabi accent.

Like, my cousin said.. “main khaana daal rahi hu”. She gets reprimanded and scolded for improper usage of language. “ are we animals, Khaana parosiye”.

The proper Hindi we learn in schools, but we can’t speak because it’s not actually the mother tongue we speak in.

(Hindi maybe called the national language but what people actually speak in is Hindustani)
