Oh, actually it’s the first time I have heard of this disorder.

Though, I have always correlated harsher cold weather with depression in my head. Sun/natural light does have an effect on our brain, we don’t realise it. If you observe position of the moon when you feel low. You will notice a pattern too.

I hope you get rid of this problem soon ❤️

Well Vitamin D deficiency is a real problem that's so often overlooked...

Could be. I never thought from deficiency point of view, but I always associated darkness with sadness.

Light and air circulation are that’s why important in a house too. I have felt it breeds negative energy.

I study Vedic astrology too in my spare time out of interest. Sun and moon are luminaries. Saturn which is denoted by dark blue/ black color and is also the coldest planet, it’s affliction on the moon (which rules emotions and mind) will cause depression. I know many people don’t believe this, but anyone who has issues with depression should avoid black/ dark colors.

I have anxiety

Got diagnosed when I was around 18 though I always waa called a worrier since I was a kid ..

I was studying in college and living by myself …which seemed to have triggered it or something coz I kept having continuous panic attacks for my entire 3rd semester …initially took medicines and started cbt…then weaned off medicines and continues with CBT for a few years (used to go once a month or once in 2 months in the later years..initially once a week)

Main trigger points for me are deadlines, unfamiliarity (either with the location I’m in or the work I’m doing”) and anything that has lifelong repercussions (like making a mistake during driving , or deciding on marriage)

I wouldn’t say I have recovered fully ..but I manage now somehow ..if I get a panic attack I excuse myself, drink water, isolate in a room or something and then within 15-20 mins I can get back to what I was doing

Having a routine helps …wake up at a time, workout at a time , eat at a time , sleep at a time etc…sticking to the routine helps me cope

Also my boss is very understanding and appreciative ..he keeps telling me that even tho I have anxiety, the positive side of that i always put in extra extra effort to not make any mistakes …proof read things twice and thrice , overthink and think of all scenarios and prepare for them …

I wish anxiety wasn’t as exhausting as it is …but …we all deal with stuff of our own..so I guess this is my stuff

My dad says this exact thing to me ..he’s into this too

Apparently I was born smack dab in the middle of Sade sati for my rashi…(Capricorn) …so I have the Saturn and moon combination ..wear a lot of black and blue …and my dad advises me against it

I am curious. How do people know what they have? Are you supposed to be diagnosed with it to know what you have?

You have to have a diagnosis to be prescribed CBT or medications at least here in the US. So I would say most responding here were diagnosed by the provider unless it varies from one country to another.

I have anxiety and I try to avoid stress by doing work and school assignments before the due date because I have panic attacks if I have too much stuff to do. So I try to stress less which is difficult but exercise and eating healthy helps, drink water, prayer and etc. I used to go to therapy for anxiety but the therapist gave me videos of breathing exercises to help and the sessions ended since it was for school and limited time, it ended years ago and it was 5 or 6 sessions so now I am trying to do self therapy. I tried to take anxiety medication once and it gave me anxiety since it was making me sleepy. I stopped taking it. Now just exercising and praying hopefully it helps

well with anxiety I can tell how my body reacts to stress and worries or shocking events or even social settings so that’s why I tell my doctors I have anxiety and explain to them how I feel and the events that takes place.

Just to understand, is there a reason or a life event/experience that triggered these issues for you. Please feel free to ignore answering the post of you aren’t comfortable.

SAD is triggered by environmental issues. I live in the Midwest where it is cold and dark by 4 PM. I take the bus to work as opposed to biking/walking and spend the majority of my time indoors as opposed to a lot of weekend bike rides or meetups with friends. The lack of physical activity and inability to get fresh air puts you in a spiral of lethargy and sadness. It wasn't too bad pre-pandemic as I would go to zumba classes and meet friends for drinks or game nights. But since I cannot work out in masks that is out of the question and even my social circle is narrowed to a very small group of people who are COVID safe. Just bums me out all the time. I use a sun lamp for it.

Anxiety has been an interesting development. I have usually been a happy-go-lucky person and quite reckless too with devil-may-care attitudes. 7-8 years ago, I fell and broke my wrist. It was shattered - I needed surgery where they used nine pins and a metal plate to fix me up. It was the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced in my life. Since then, I developed a paranoia of falling - but that was mostly in snow and ice.

Last year I went on a road trip with a friend and I totally white-knuckled driving in the Utah mountains. It was a strange and surreal feeling because I've driven mountains before and not been anxious. I recently went hiking with friends and was very petrified, shaky, and slow in the downhill sessions. I haven't been afraid like that before. I get anxious driving in bad weather.

I spoke to my doctor and have a referral for counseling but have been avoiding it as it is not impacting my life as much. My theory is that I am more aware of mortality and pain now. I never broke a bone when I was younger despite years of playing field hockey. I was in my thirties when I broke a bone.

I have anxiety and depression . Last year was ultimate hell for me . Went through a period of complete hallowness . Lockdown uncertainity about future my grandma s death it really broke me from within. It made me question the very purpose of my exisistence . I mean what is the point of living? I could not have pulled it through had it not been for my family . They were my biggest support in my darkest time . I have been going for therapy for past few months . Breathing exercise helps during anxiety attacks
