Chapter 31 The Real Culprit

Neil looked at Mini and he found same confused expressions on her face meaning she too didnt have any clue about whats going on. Before they could have make up their mind about leaving the room they again heard Yash's voice.

"I cant believe after all these years my son is getting fooled again by these sisters." Yash hissed.

"And I cant believe how manipulating a father can get just to destroy his own son's life for his financial gains." Mickey taunted hoping Yash would spill some more details.

"Yes, I wanted financial gain from Isha's parents. But its not the only reason I wanted to my son to dump that useless girl Mini. For God sake! Her father was what...just a partner in one of my firm. My son deserved much more than that. And I was noticing how she was instigating him against me. She was the one who supported Neil's decision to make career in music, she wanted to control him emotionally so that she and her father later get leverage in our business. Because of her my son drifted away from me, from my business. I was so right about her, she was a gold digger." Yash was trapped in Arya and Mickey's plan now.

Neil looked Mini in another room where they were listening to Yash through mike. Mini looked disgusted with all that false accusation Yash was throwing at her and Neil didnt understand why he was bringing all this up after all these years.

"Wrong, uncle. If anyone is gold digger here then its you not my sister. You were the one who was using your friendship with Isha's parents to expand your business. My sister truly loved Neil. She didnt love his money. We were not as rich as you but we were happy with whatever we had." Arya defended.

"Huh! If she was not gold digger then why she broke up with Neil? I had offered her money to leave Neil alone and she did exactly what I wanted." Yash smirked.

"She broke up with Neil not because of your money but because of your threat. You have threatened if she didnt break up with Neil then you will hand over our father to police on the charges of the fraud in pharma company whos mastermind was you at the first place." Arya revealed his secret.

Yash was shocked at first. His truth was out finally after years but then he smirked as he looked around. There were only three of them, its not like he is exposed or something. Little did he know that his son, for whom he did all that planning and plotting had heard everything in the other room.

"Yes, I did threaten her. But I dont feel guilty for it even for a minute. I did what it took to save my son from your sister's clutches and get him to marry Isha. And you must accept that I am a very clever player. I hit two targets with one stone. first, threatening your sister to leave Neil and second, covering my name from that corporate fraud and blaming everything on your father." Yash boasted.

"Dont think so high about yourself. Your threatening also wasnt going to work on my sister. She is a fighter. But then fate played its cruel game and I was sick. Doctor advised treatment as soon as possible and my sister was helpless at that time. Our family needed to be together at that time. If she hadnt bow down to your threatening then you would have send our father to jail and we needed him...I needed him and the money, the care. Whatever my sister did was for our family. She was never a gold digger. She loved Neil truly and only I know how difficult it was for her to break up with him. Since that day she has suffered everyday without him." Arya cried as she remembered all of it.

In the other room, Neil almost fell down in shock after what he heard. He couldn't believe it. He looked at Mini to see if she has anything else to say about it but she was already crying her heart out. Arya's words had made her heart bleed again. She relived that day fateful day of their breakup. And Neil needed no other proof to conclude that what he has heard was all true. The room seemed to be spinning around him, he held his head and cried in agony as it felt his head would explode. Yash and Arya's conversation was playing in his mind repeatedly.

"Yash was the real culprit of corporate fraud."

"Mini was not a gold digger."

"She broke up with him just to protect her family."

"She loved him truly."

"She has suffered without him like he did in all these years."

All these conclusions were like hammer of truth banging his head again and again. His life seemed to be a tower of lies his father made up for him only to push him from the height at the end. And he lost the one true love of his life believing his father's tales. He was so engrossed in self pity that he couldnt even see through Mini's pretense of getting engage to that Dr. Jay. Of course, she had to do it because without it he would not have believed her. As his mind took him back to past where he replayed all the events since their break up, now he realized what a self obsessed jerk he had been. Mini's engagement to Jay was fake, their kissing in Jay's cabin was made up, she coming to tell him the truth on his engagement with Isha and he pushing her away. Now it all made sense why she is still not married, why Jay is married to someone else, why Mini was financially not sound, why she needed money for Arya's surgery. God! what has happened? Why? Why? They didnt deserve it, their love didnt deserve it.

Arya had a smile on her face amidst tears as she looked at Mickey to gesture him to continue further. Mickey nodded and tried to fish out more information from Yash.

"Uncle really? You did all that. I cant believe it! I dont know what to say? whether I should praise you for your shrewdness or hate you actually." Mickey said.

"Do whatever you want but at that time I wanted to throw that Mini away from my son's life and I was successful." Yash replied smugly.

"You had achieved what you wanted then why framed Hanuman uncle later. you should have at least keep your part of the deal. You should have at least showed that much of decency." Mickey gave a hateful look.

"I never trusted that Mini and Hanuman. I knew they will not stay quiet and I was right. Mini had come to tell Neil about me at his engagement day. I was lucky that Neil didnt give her a chance that day but that didnt mean I will get lucky all the time. I had to do something about her. I also found out that she is digging up the files in our office to find evidence against me. That was the limit. I decided to end it once and for all." Yash answered.

"I dont think uncle your plan had been successful if Neil hadnt gave false statement to police against Mr. Singh. So its not the greatness of your plan but because of Neil." Mickey instigated to make Yash confess how he manipulated Neil.

"Huh! Leave it to my son when you want to spoil your perfect plan. He went after his mother in that matter, thinking from heart not using brains. Even after what had happened he was not willing to give statement against Hanuman. I still remember how I tried to provoke him by reminding him repeatedly about that Mini's betrayal. But my son is so righteous that he didnt want to punish father for daughter's wrong doings. I had to fabricate evidences against Hanuman to make Neil believe that whole Singh family is money hungry. Still he was conscious of telling lies so I had to use my ultimate weapon." Yash smirked.

"You mean Neil's mother?" Mickey kinda guessed and it blew off his mind. This man used his own wife to emotionally blackmail Neil.

"Yes, I staged a fake police raid in our office and house. I made Neil believe that Singh family is trying to involve his mother's name in this conspiracy and she can get arrested for it. That did the trick and Neil finally agreed for the false statement. But I dont know how Seema find out about my plan? She must have listen to my phone conversion when I was sharing everything with my lawyer. She confronted me. She was livid. She threatened to spoil my plan and marched towards Neil's room to tell him the truth. I tried to stop her at any cost. She was as usual drunk. We had a huge fight, it was bad. Profanities thrown at each other, accusations, reference to old arguments, blame game of how we ruined each others life and before I knew it became physical, we pushed each other. I said all sorts of things which I would not said otherwise but I was desperate to stop her. It all took the toll on her and she had an heart attack." Yash remembered that incident. He finally had his head hung down feeling some sort of guilt because of his wife's death.

"I didnt mean to hurt Seema to the extent that she will die. But once the fight started I was angry...she was angry...we both said hurtful things and...but I didnt want her to die." Yash continued.

"Yet you used her death to manipulate your son further. If I am not wrong, you tried to put all blame of Mrs. Oberoi's on Neil...right? You said, she died because she couldnt see Neil wasting his life in alcohol. Neil made her feel that she has failed as a mother...right? How low you can stoop Mr. Yash Oberoi? You are one pathetic man. Shame in the name of mankind." Mickey felt disgusted.

"Yes, I did that. I thought if Neil would feel guilty he will do whatever I will ask him to do and he did also...for some time but then ultimately he broke his engagement with Isha and drifted away from me." Yash recalled.

In the other room now it was Mini's turn to get the shock of her life and Neil's turn to break down. All these years Mini had always thought that Neil gave statement against her father only to get back at her for her betrayal. She never thought there could be any other reason. Mini tried hard to focus when she replayed all the events since their break up and now it all fit. Why Neil was so against her father and her. Why he used to behave like he was the victim in all this. What kind of torture he went through thinking all the while that he is responsible for his mother's death. What made him so frustrated and angry with life.

"Their break up did tormented Neil."

"Neil was tricked into believing Hanuman was guilty and he was trying to frame Neil's mother for that."

"According to Neil, he did all that to save his mother."

"Neil was held responsible for his own mother's death, mother whom he loved so much."

And all this was done by his own father Yash Oberoi. She really underestimated that man. He not only did wrong to her but also played his own son. Mini looked at Neil who looked like life had drained out of him. He was just sitting on the ground unable to react like his senses had gone numb. She knew at that moment, it was a shocker for him too.

On the other hand, Mickey gave thumbs up to Arya as finally their plan was successful. Yash blurted out the truth himself and Mini and Neil must have heard it all. Now its time that Yash face some music from both of them. He was the real culprit after all. He must own up to his mistakes.
