That makes sense about TDS. In a lot of cases if it’s a “gift” the organisers step in and pay the amount. Example when Sachin Tendulkar was gifted a Ferrari in 2002 he incurred a tax duty of 1.1 crores. Ferrari then paid it off for him. In India when you buy a house, the buyer is made to pay the capital taxes on behalf of the seller. Athu oru kodumai 😔

It’s just that most contestants who come on super singer are shown to be poor, so I don’t know how they will afford this money. Not sure if they are even aware of this condition until they actually win.
