I see only one way now for the makers to fix this is by making Anu tell Vanraj in the precap scene to start with yourself first by sorting it out with Kavya and then to preach others.

Sunshine and all others - THANKS for the strongly worded condemnation of the mockery of IPV we have been witnessing in our beloved show.

If the makers have an iota of respect for their viewers, their own show, actors and characters' arcs this is what they need to do:

1) READ ALL the comments online ( forums like this, SM, blogs, general interest mags even etc. etc) - FEEL the grief, outrage and disappointment for:

(a) mishandling a super sensitive issue that really matters to a majority of the audience of this show, i.e. females who have witnessed, lived through psychological/physical IPV or at the very least resonate with the issue.

(b) Inconsistent portrayal of their own works of art i.e. Anupama and Anuj. One minute they are sensitive, informed, empowered feminists, the next naive, idiotic, traditionalists letting in Vanraj into their most gut wrenching grief, exposing an abuse victim (Mukku) still in the throes of PTSD to a known abuser, who has repeatedly subjected THEM to unimaginable torture?

(c) Destroying Anuj's arc. He brought in viewers who had sworn off ITV. GK's innate charm of course added to the sheen of Anuj, but the makers and writers conceptualized and wrote a beautiful ML and they r now tearing him down. Show him as a vulnerable human being but DON'T insult his and OUR intelligence. Suddenly all he wants to do is die??? C'mon.

2) What's this I m reading about the friendship of makers w Vanraj actor and hence his crazy arc - nice father, brother, son? My foot! Samar hates him, Toshu is a sad, pathetic replica of him who doesn't know whether he is coming or going and Pakhi (what the hell girl - u r 18 or whatever, cant you see what an "*$#@&!@ your dad is). And u r putting idiotic dialogues in Anu's mouth where she is defending, valorisng her monstrous abuser? Yeah Anu may need to make sense of her 26 years w this guy and as the father of her children. But she has herself called him out on numerous occassions for torture, so pls don't show Anu as an idiot who has no recognition of IPV beyond physical violence.

3) Someone said TV shows don't matter - can't change attitudes, beliefs etc. My dear I beg to differ very very strongly. They are an important tool of socializing us into cultural norms and teaching/reinforcing values and belief systems- what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. But that's a lecture (no a semester long course at the very least which I currently teach)

4) Makers, writers, producers, whoever is in the driving seat - you have created a powerful show with wonderful characters. Even Vanraj was a well written character and is portrayed really well by the chosen actor. Let him play his role to the hilt in the service of the overall story. His character serves a purpose. A strong antagonist is important in any drama and let him write ITV history as being one of the most well written, realistic and well-enacted antagonists just as Anu and Anuj are well written and enacted (though aspirational not really realistic) protagonists. Show Vanraj's reformation also if u like but put an arc there - awareness of his misogyny, true remorse, seeking forgiveness and maybe maybe being given a measure of forgiveness. But pls don't make a misogynist a champion in a minute w/o any internal soul searching, demonstrated shame and "pashchataap"

5) For heaven's sake - DON'T DESTROY THIS SHOW! You guys clearly understand cognitive and social psychology AND how to weave a magical story. Don't go the sloppy ITV way for any reason.

AND if nothing else, THINK OF THE BOTTOMLINE!!!

The collective outrage on this forum alone should tell you that the bottomline will suffer if you don't get back in the saddle and put your demonstrated writing chops to use.

Me and my mom was just discussing this. I was so angry but she made me see through the reality. This actually calm me down. She said there is no doubt that Vanraj is evil, he was, is and will. But like him in real life also these kind of people wont regret, they dont have any ounce of guilt even. They are the so called good people in front. They got affected only for their daughters sisters but not their wives till. These are those people who did and doing the same but rebuke the others for the same. They lend help but wont learn lesson for themselves. That is why violence happens and women face lots of difficulties to prove. These kind of people never leave a chance to interfere but dont want any for themselves. Sad but true. My mom said makers trying to show the reality. She said tell me the one person who accepted and guilty of doing violence, not any. It is just that it is a show and we as viewers want to see what is right but reality is not that. Agar aisa hota na k aise log guilty hote to violence hota hi ni

Makers fooled the viewers by smart suave Anuj and thought he will teach vanraj the lesson..

Come on all characters be it Anu, Anuj or Mukku are added in show for me to use and rule them.

You have summed it up so beautifully and accurately!! Wish your voice reaches the makers ... I was one of those who had given up on ITV but started watching sometime back due to the Maan hype , but so disappointed now ! Even the description of the episode is Sooo CRINGE !!
