He is the CENTRAL CHARACTER OF THE PLOT...
I do not understand what is sleazy in between a husband-wife romantic conversation, and Dua very much is having a consensual dynamic with him right now, and as far as robes are concerned, you expect him to be in bedroom in suits? 😆
I agree he is an anti hero, he is supposed to be the central protagonist who is an anti hero, it is not rocket science to understand that aspect of the story.
haan bhai. Rocket science tou nahi, Lekin humei tou science mei hamesha kum marks hi milte the.
My point is the minute, I know he is an anti hero, I can’t take him seriously as a man who loves his wife in let’s say the conventional sense of the term, which makes me question the heroine too. To her, she rolls her eyes, questions his intentions only after he fails to keep his promises, whereas for a jaded woman like me, there were red flags the whole time - from his cheesy lines, to his overdone accent to open robes. Promise tak baat hi nahi aati, which therefore makes the story even more interesting.
Then to me, it’s no more question of consent, or unequal - it’s a question of balance. In a way if the male lead is anti hero, for today’s world, the woman is also an anti heroine. If he uses suave tactics, she is easily swayed. If he is being stubborn and listens to no one, she is being naive and listens to everyone. So then, if the bg music for him is ominous, the bg music for her actions must match that too. The romantic scenes are beautifully shot on two beautiful actors, no doubt, but the depth of their unbalanced characters is somewhere lost in face of that beauty.
In fact, I am giving kudos to the maker for those scenes in which our male lead wears robes and she is in full garbs, it’s a sleaze scene, it’s not supposed to be romance in its conventional sense, it’s not about consent. It is about imbalance, well done makers!
For me, as long as they keep the storyline about this imbalance and both of their journey towards the balance - towards the center, I will watch, the minute I see they are making this about she being pure and wronged and he being punished for his sins, they have lost my interest.
I am tired of right stretched to righteousness and wrong stretched to almost demonic, and yet only the almost demonic must change his ways but the righteousness remains indignant. That’s been over done,
