Main aap sab badon ki baaton me nahi ulajhne waali 😆 Waise bhi, jo likha hai, zyaadatar ya toh mere samajh ke bahar hai, ya fir mere experience ke bahar hai 😛
I like how RTH puts it:

Amitabh Bacchan was not the star of my generation, I am a product of the Khan era.
Before you start on me as well Qwerts (and really you should know better than to say anything bad about my SRK around me 😡😆) ... let's accept the fact that it's purely a factual statement. I was born in the time when SRK entered the industry and started making a name for himself. Same for Salman Khan actually. You can't ignore the fact that this was a time when DDLJ was dubbed a classic, DTPH and HAHK were blockbusters and AB sr was ... well I certainly didn't know what he was upto, nor cared because I was satisfied by the Khans' work.
Now let's come back to the actual question of this debate 😛 Should AB continue to work in Bollywood?
Well that "should" turns this entire debate into a subjective discussion based on emotions, not (neccessarily) facts. "Should" begs us to consider personal preferences, opinions and experiences.
So should he? I'll be frank. The growth I've seen in AB has been from "angry young man" to angry old man. People say SRK acts the same in every film? Is it just me or did AB not play the same role in K3G, Mohobbatein, and to an extent even Baaghban?
Just to sidetrack (since this is bugging me 😛😆)...Sholeman, did you at some point say SRK hasn't done any quality work in recent times? You're discrediting Chak De then? I really did enjoy that movie and thought he'd stepped out of his usual role and done a commendable job. Perhaps that's just my bias speaking though.
Coming back to RTH:

Nevertheless, he is a good actor and why should he quit films. As an actor and artist he has the choice to do what he believes is the best way to express himself. I liked Baghban, Cheeni Kum and Sarkar, but it was painful to watch him try to do jhatke like a hero in Bunty Aur Babli - but to each their own.
As far as I know they don't drag you to a theater, tie you to the seat, gag your mouth and make you watch a film. If you don't like it do not watch it.
Well really I just agree with everything you've said 😛 I'd add Jhoom Barabar Jhoom with Bunty aur Babli, but besides that you're spot on.
What else do I have to say...?😛
Right...should he? I don't know. Would I like him to quit? I've been saying yes for a few years now, but I guess telepathy isn't working out for me 😆 Frankly, just as there are those who are bored of the SRK's "same chocolate acting" I too am bored of watching AB sr play the angry dad, or the angry mob-man, or the bitter suitor, or the ... well in short the angry old man.
But should he...? No. Who else will play the angry dad? Not Anupam Kher. He's the goofy, fun dad. Amrish Puri is dead (may his soul rest in peace). Om Puri is an underrated actor who does a fabulous job in comic roles. Who does that leave us with...? No one old enough who can still walk without a cane or bull-headed enough to keep acting despite having two other bread-earners in the houselhold 😛 That's my version of the supply and demand theory in practice 😉😆
Bottom Line: Should he... no. Do I want him to... yes.
OH... all you discreditors of Jaya Bachchan... did you watch Laaga Chunari Me Daag? On the whole, commendable job by all the actors, especially Rani and Jayaji. 😛
